Facts about the deserts Our planet have different deserts. The temperature of the desert fluctuates

between 30 degrees Fahrenheit, at night and 130 degrees during the daylight.

The lack of vegetation makes the heat to evaporate faster at night.

During the day the sunlight heats everything.

Usually the desert is very low in humidity.

DesertsDeserts cover more than one fifth of the Earth's land, and they are found on every continent. Deserts can be classified as "hot" or "cold". Deserts receive less than 10 inches of precipitation a year. Lack of water creates a survival problem for all desert organisms, animals, plants and people.

Alluvial Fan: A large, fan-shaped pile of sediment forming at the base of narrow canyons onto a flat

plain at the foot of a mountain range.

Probably formerly a mesa.Cenozoic Era: 0 to 65 million years ago includes the Quaternary and Tertiary Periods.Desert: Receiving less than 10 inches of precipitation annually.Desert Pavement: A thin, surface layer of closely packed pebbles.Desert Varnish: A hard, dark, shiny coating on rocks caused by chemical action.
