Scaffolding• Breaking up learning into chunks

• Then providing a tool or structure for each chunk

• Scaffolding is DIFFERENT than differentiation

• Scaffolding should be done for all children

• Take “They should be able to do this” out of your vocabulary.

Ra#onale:  As  we  have  been  studying  jus3ce,  we  have  been  looking  at  government  and  what  happens  when  government  structures  break  down.  One  way  of  dealing  with  the  lack  of  order  has  been  for  individuals  to  break  away  and  form  their  own  socie3es  in  hope  of  crea3ng  a  “perfect”  world.    In  conjunc3on  with  The  Giver  and  our  social  studies  unit  on  government,  law,  and  social  jus3ce,  you  will  be  crea3ng  a  mul3-­‐step  Utopia  project.
