How to get a good grade.

Must be sturdy.If there are several different parts, they

must be stuck together or mounted on cardboard or wood. The instrument must stand up by itself, unless it is meant to be

hand-held.

1 = Flimsy

2 = Sturdy for a short time.

3 = Well-built & sturdy

4 = Exceptional student effort above & beyond

Instrument must make at least 3 different sounds.

1 = Made 1 sound.

2 = Made 2 sounds.

3 = Made 3 sounds.

4 = Exceptional student effort above & beyond.

Instrument must be painted, stained or covered with contact or

construction paper unless in its unfinished form it looks “finished”.

1 = Minimal additions to original form.

2 = Complete, but lacking decoratons.

3 = Decorated & complete-looking.

4 = Exceptional student effort above & beyond.

A few notes:

This is only half of your project. The other half is

writing a “sound piece” (not a song).

This will be explained in detail later.

If your instrument needs a mallet, you will need to

make one or find something from home. Do not use a pencil or

pen unless you decorate it.

You need to try out the different sounds of the parts of your instrument to make sure they sound

good.Let the parts vibrate for

a louder sound.

Pace yourself as you do this project!

Do not wait until the last minute!

You should have your instrument completed before starting your

“sound piece”.
