About Insight 360 TeacherYou can teach class with a tablet using the Insight 360 Teacher app.

Use the Insight 360 Teacher app with Pulse 360 and ResponseCard NXT clickers, the QT Device, the Insight 360 Student appand the Insight 360 CloudWeb Access browser-based application. The Insight 360 Teacher app also allows you to engage inConstructed ResponseMode when your students use the Insight 360 Student app.

Creating a Turning AccountA Turning Account is a unique identifier that is used to tie together all software accounts and response devices. A TurningAccount is required for use with Turning Technologies products.

1 Go to https://account.turningtechnologies.com/.2 Click Create Account.

TheSign Up page is displayed.3 Enter your email address and click Next.

A verification email will be sent to the email address you provide.4 Check your email and click the link to verify your Turning Account.

NOTEIf you did not receive the verification email, click theResend Verification button in TurningAccount.

5 Enter all required fields as noted by the asterisks.6 From theRole drop-downmenu, select Instructor.7 Enter and confirm your password in the fields provided.

NOTEThe passwordmust be at least eight characters long and contain one lowercase letter, oneuppercase letter and one number.

8 Select the box labeled I accept the Terms of Use and click Create account.The Dashboard is displayed.

Configuring Insight 360 Cloud for the Insight 360 Teacher AppBefore connecting the Insight 360 Teacher app to the desktop computer, the featuremust first be enabled in the Insight 360Cloud software.

1 Open Insight 360 Cloud.

2 Click and selectMobile Devices.3 Select the box labeledEnable Insight 360 Teacher App.4 Enter theComputer Name (Alias) andPassword in the

boxes provided.

NOTEThe computer namemust be unique. This isthe name that students will use to connect tothe session when using the Insight 360Student app.

5 Select the box labeledEnable Constructed Response to enable Constructed Response questions within the Insight360 Student app.

NOTEIf you do not enable Constructed Response, you will still be able to useMulti-User Mode withstudent devices.

Connecting the Insight 360 Teacher App

Prerequisites

Download and install the Insight 360 Teacher app from the App Store.

1 Open the Insight 360 Teacher app.ThePair Computer and iPad screen is displayed.

2 Tap the appropriate computer name.

NOTE

Previously connected computers are displayed first and indicated by .

3 Enter the password in the box provided and tapOK.The Insight 360 Teacher app is now connected.

Starting a ClassThis section covers the following topics:

Starting a Class with the Insight 360 Teacher AppWhen a class session is started, the Insight 360 Teacher app communicates with the Insight 360 software to associatedevices with the students in your class roster.

Prerequisites

Youmust connect the Insight 360 Teacher app to start a class. For more information, seeConnecting the Insight 360Teacher App on page 6.

1 On the Teach a Class screen, tap the appropriate class from the class list.2 Confirm the class name, section, period number and days are correct.3 TapStart Class.

Starting an Anonymous SessionAn anonymous class session can be used when you want to start an impromptu session or when a class has not been pre-configured in Insight 360.

During an anonymous class, student devices are not associated with specific students. Session data is saved in Insight 360for all anonymous sessions.

Prerequisites

Youmust connect the Insight 360 Teacher app before starting a class. For more information, seeConnecting the Insight 360Teacher App on page 6.

1 On the Teach a Class screen, tapStart Anonymous Class.The Insight 360 Teacher app opens.

Accessing FavoritesThe information stored on theMy Favorites tab in Insight 360 Cloud can be accessed directly from the Insight 360 Teacher app.

1 Tap .2 Tap the item to display.3 To access favorites on other pages, swipe from right to left.

4 Tap to close the Favorites window without selecting an item.

Viewing the Class Roster

1 Tap .All of the student devices are displayed by default.

2 TapConnected to display the connected devices.3 TapDisconnected to display the devices that are not currently connected to the Insight 360 Teacher app.4 To remove a connected device:

a Tap and hold the screen until the student boxes “wiggle.”

b Tap to remove the device.

Lesson ZoneWhen a class is started with the Insight 360 Teacher app, the class is automatically in the Lesson Zone.

While in the Lesson Zone, you can adjust the display options, annotate thecomputer screen, create and display notes, and take screenshots. You can alsocontrol your desktop computer directly from the Insight 360 Teacher app, throughthe navigation controls which can be accessed by tapping the arrow in the bottomright corner of the screen. The navigation controls work the same as the arrowkeys and the page up and page down keys on your keyboard.

Display Options

The three display options are accessed through theDisplay icon.

Displaying the Computer Screen from the Insight 360 Teacher app

The Insight 360 Teacher app allows you to control your computer desktop from anywhere in the room.

If your computer is connected to a projector or largemonitor, students can also view your computer desktop. This means thatyou can use Insight 360 Teacher app to present documents, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, web pages, videos and othermedia from your computer.

NOTEYou can use the other Insight 360 Teacher app annotation tools to annotate the computerscreen. Such annotations are simply overlaid on the screen and will not affect the underlyingcontent.

Displaying Whiteboard Mode from the Insight 360 Teacher app

If your classroom computer is connected to a projector or largemonitor, you can use the Insight 360 Teacher app to project awhite background visible to all students in the class. The white background can be used like a whiteboard on which you orstudents can “draw” or “write” on the screen from the Insight 360 Teacher app.

Displaying Screenshots

You can display screenshots on the classroom computer desktop in two ways:

l Screenshot Sorter - Displays thumbnails of all screenshots saved in the lesson.  l Screenshots Display Mode - Displays full-size screenshots one at a time. Displayed screenshots have a white borderand have an identification number in the upper left corner.

1 Tap .The Screenshot Sorter opens on the Insight 360 Teacher app and the computer desktop.  

2 To access previous screenshots, tap or .3 To exit Screenshots Display Mode, tap and thenDesktop Display orWhiteboard Display.

Using the Curtain to Hide the Screen

Tapping displays a large black rectangle over the classroom computer desktop. This effectively covers the screen to hideitems behind the curtain. You canmove or resize the curtain to partially reveal the screen.

NOTEThe Pen can be in any tool mode (e.g., Mouse Pointer, Pen or Highlighter) whenmoving or resizingthe curtain.

1 Tap .The curtain appears on the screen and a blue box surrounds the selected Curtain icon.

2 Tomove the curtain, tap and hold the curtain. Use your finger to drag the curtain around the screen.3 To resize the curtain:

a The curtain has four resizing “handles,” one on each of its four sides. Tap and drag the resizing handle to thedesired location.

b Repeat for other curtain sides if necessary.

4 To remove the curtain, tap .

AnnotationsYou can use the Insight 360 Teacher app annotation tools as amouse pointer, as a pen, or to control the Insight 360 Teacherapp.

Themouse pointer allows you to control the classroom computer desktop.

1 Tap .2 To select an area, tap and drag your finger across the Insight 360 Teacher app writing surface.3 To click, tap thewriting surface once.

Using the Pen Tools

Writings and drawings done with the Insight 360 Teacher app digital pen on the Insight 360 Teacher app writing surface transferto the classroom computer desktop after you lift the pen from the writing or drawing surface.

1 Tap .Tap and drag your finger across the Insight 360 Teacher app writing surface to write or draw.To change the pen thickness or color, tap and hold your finger on theWhiteboard display mode.

Tap to use themouse pointer to control the classroom computer desktop.

2 Optionally, tap thePen icon and select one of the following pen tools:

Highlighter – The highlighter draws a wide line in a light color and is used to draw attention toa particular item. To change the highlighter thickness and color, tap and hold your finger on theWhiteboarddisplay mode.

Shape Tool – The shape tool draws geometric shapes on the classroom computer screen. To change theshape tool settings, tap and hold your finger on theWhiteboard display mode.

Line Tool – The line tool draws a straight line. To change the line thickness and color, tap and hold yourfinger on theWhiteboard display mode.

Eraser – Use the eraser tool to delete annotations that you placed on the classroom computer screen. TheEraser cannot delete content produced by another source such as aMicrosoft Word document or internetweb page. To delete all annotations, seeDeleting Annotations on page 12. To change the eraserthickness, tap and hold your finger on theWhiteboard display mode.

Deleting Annotations

Using the Insight 360 Teacher app, you can delete (or clear) all annotations currently displayed on the classroom computerscreen.

WARNINGDeleting annotations permanently removes all writings and drawings generated by the Insight 360Teacher app from the classroom computer screen. To delete just a portion of the screen, use theEraser tool.

1 Tap .The annotations are deleted.

NotesYou can create and display a note relating to the current class session on the Insight 360 Teacher app.

IMPORTANTNotes are saved only for the duration of the current class and are deleted when the class ends.

Creating and Displaying a New Note

Notes are used to temporarily display information on the Insight 360 Teacher app or on the classroom computer screen during aspecific class session.

NOTEUp to 20 notes may be created during each class session.

1 Tap .

2 Tap to write or draw on the Insight 360 Teacher app screen or writing area.

3 Tap to remove any mistakes.

4 Tap to display the note on the classroom computer screen.

5 To add another note, tap at the top of the screen.

Displaying a Previous Note

Notes are automatically saved as they are created. The number of notes created in this class session are displayed in the top-right corner of the Note View.

Notes can be displayed on the Insight 360 Teacher app or on the classroom computer. On the Insight 360 Teacher app, onlyone note can be displayed at a time. Multiple notes can be displayed on the classroom computer desktop. Up to 20 notes maybe created during each class session.

IMPORTANTAll notes are deleted when the session ends. Insight 360 Cloud does NOT save session notes.

1 Tap at the top of the screen until the desired note appears on the Insight 360 Teacher app screen.  

2 Tap to show the current note on the classroom computer desktop.

3 To exit Note View, tap .

Deleting a Note

You can delete a note from the computer screen or permanently delete the note from the Insight 360 Teacher app.

1 To delete a note from the computer screen:a With theMouse Pointer tool, click X in the top corner of the note.

NOTEDeleting a note from the computer screen does not delete the note from the Insight 360Teacher app.

2 To delete a note from the Insight 360 Teacher app:

a InNote View, tap or at the top of the screen to find the desired note.    

b Tap .

WARNINGDeleting a note from Note View permanently deletes the note. There is no undo for thisaction, and the deleted note cannot be retrieved.

3 To exit Note View, tap .

ScreenshotsA screenshot is an image of the computer screen at a particular point in a class session. The Screenshot feature saves animage of the classroom computer screen.

NOTEInsight 360 automatically saves screenshots during the following actions:

Saving Screenshots

Screenshots are saved in a folder on the computer’s hard drive. Insight 360 will store amaximum of 10,000 screenshots persession. The total number of screenshots saved is limited by the size of your computer’s hard drive.

1 Tap .

After a session is ended, you can no longer view the screenshots from the Insight 360 Teacher app. However, you canview screenshots for a session through the Session Content Report in Insight 360.

NOTEAll screenshots and other Insight 360 information reside on the classroom computer used toset up this data. It will not be accessible if you take the Insight 360 Teacher app to anotherclassroom even if that classroom computer is running Insight 360.

Using the Screenshot Sorter

The Screenshot Sorter displays icons for five categories of screenshots:

User-triggered ExamView Questions

Verbal Questions Multi-User or Constructed ResponseMode

TaggedQuestions

By default, screenshots from all categories display when the Screenshot Sorter first opens. You can view screenshots onlyfrom a certain category by turning off the non-desired categories.

1 Tap .Thumbnails of screenshots display on the left side of the classroom computer screen.

2 Tap the screenshot you want to display.3 To filter screenshots, tap theScreenshot Sorter icons that are not related to the screenshot category that you would

like to access.

EXAMPLETo display a Verbal Question screenshot, tap the icons OTHER than the Verbal Questionicon.

4 To close the screenshot, tap and then tap .

Annotating Screenshots with the Insight 360 Teacher app

In Screenshot Mode, you can use any annotation tool to make changes to the current screenshot. When you navigate awayfrom that screenshot using either the screenshot navigation arrows or by changing the display option, Insight 360 Cloudautomatically captures a new screenshot with the changes. Once you end a class session, the screenshots are saved byInsight 360 Cloud.

1 Access the desired screenshot from theScreenshot Sorter. Refer toUsing the Screenshot Sorter on page 15.2 Use an annotation tool to make changes to the screenshot. For more information, seeAnnotations on page 11.

3 To save changes, tap  or change the display option to or .

Question ZoneTheQuestion Zone allows you to:

Asking Verbal QuestionsVerbal questions allow you to set up an impromptu question and receive feedback through student response devices. You canask the following types of questions through the Verbal Questions tab: True/False, Yes/No, Numeric, Short Answer (up to 70characters) andMultiple Choice/Multiple Select (up to six options).

1 Tap .TheAsk aQuestion screen is displayed.

2 Tap theQuestion Type.TheSelect Question Typewindow opens.

3 Tap the desired question and answer bullet (ABC or 123) types and tapBack.4 TapAnswer.5 Tap or enter the appropriate answer information based on the selected question type and tapBack.

6 To set the timer, slide the timer bar to on. Tap or to set the timer with more or less time.   7 Ask your students the question and include all options (if multiple choice), or display the question using a projector

connected to your computer. Instruct students to answer by pressing the corresponding key on their devices.

TIPYoumay want to write the question and options usingWhiteboardmode.

Asking ExamView QuestionsYou can use the Insight 360 Teacher app to ask an individual ExamView questions during instruction.

The entire ExamView file opens. If the question you want to ask is not at the beginning of the file, use or belowExamview Controls to navigate to the applicable question.

If the ExamView test file contains questions that are not supported by the student response system (such as Short Answer forSpark 360 or Essay for Pulse 360/Spark 360), the Start button will not be enabled on those questions. However, you can stilluse thematerial as background to ask a Verbal question instead.

If an ExamView question has been authored as a dynamic question, you can use the Recalc button to present the questionwith new variables and new answer options.

1 Tap .

3 Tap to open an ExamView test.4 Find and tap anExamView file that you have placed in Favorites.

Alternatively, open an Examview file on the desktop.The ExamView test opens on your desktop.

NOTETo start an ExamView question not in Favorites, use themouse pointer tool to browse for anExamView file.

5 To set the timer, slide the timer bar to on. Tap or to set the timer with more or less time.   6 TapStart.

Tap to display the results on the classroom computer screen.

Tap to display the response grid on the classroom computer screen.

7 When students are finished answering the question, tapStop.8 To show the ExamView feedback, use themouse tool and click Feedback on the ExamView question slide.9 To advance to the next ExamView question, tap theRight Arrow icon below ExamView Controls on the Insight 360

Teacher app.

10 If is enabled , you can tap this button to present the same question with new variables and answer options.

Asking Tagged QuestionsWhen the tagged question is visible on your classroom computer screen, the tagged question icon will be active.

Displaying the Student Response Grid On-ScreenDisplay the Student ResponseGrid on the classroom computer screen so students can determine whether Insight 360 Cloudhas accepted the answers from their student devices. Each numbered block corresponds to an enrolled student.

1 In the upper-right corner of theAsk aQuestion screen, tap .TheStudent ResponseGrid appears at the top of the classroom computer desktop.

l A white block indicates that a student is enrolled in class.

l A gray block indicates that a student devices has joined the class session.

l A blue block indicates that Insight 360 Cloud has recorded the student’s response from his/her device.

Viewing Real-Time ResultsThe Response Distribution Chart displays the number of student responses for each answer choice in themost recentquestion and is compatible with all supported question types. The chart provides a summary of student responses for anindividual question and can be displayed on the classroom computer desktop.

The Student Performance Table lists question responses by student name and is compatible with all supported question types.Icons indicate whether each answer is correct or incorrect. A series of dashes indicates that a connected student has not yetresponded to the question.

NOTEThe chart and table appear slightly different for short answer questions to accommodate theresponses.

1 Start a Verbal, Tagged or ExamView question.

2 Tap .The Response Distribution Chart opens by default on the computer desktop.

l The total number of students who have answered the question is displayed in the upper-left corner; automaticallyupdates as students enter responses.

l Options are displayed in alphabetical or numerical order. The number of students who selected each option isdisplayed at the top of the column.

l Where applicable, the correct answer is displayed in green.l If students did not select an option, that option is not displayed.

3 Swipe from right to left to view theStudent Performance Table.

Displaying Question Results On-screenYou can display the results of a question on the classroom computer screen from QuestionMode. Results can be displayedimmediately after the question is started and are updated in real-time. Individual question results are available until a newquestion is started.

IMPORTANTYou cannot display the question results from a previous question.

1 Start a Verbal, Tagged or ExamView Question.   

2 Tap .TheResponse Distribution Chart appears on the classroom computer screen.

3 To display the correct answer, tapShow/Hide Correct Answer.The correct answer is displayed in green.

Shared - all users share the same screen space

2-way - two users; each on their own half of the screen

4-way - four users; each on their own quadrant

3 To keep the background constant while in Multi-User Mode, tapUse Fixed Background.

NOTEIf Use Fixed Background is selected, the computer desktop will not be available until Multi-User Mode is closed. Screen division lines are not displayed on the fixed background.

4 TapStart Multi-User Mode.l While in Multi-User Mode, you have access to all of the tools in the Lesson Zone. However, connected studentdevices can only use the Pen, Eraser and Delete All tools.

l Student tools show in a toolbox in the corner of the device screen.l By default, the pen tool selected on student devices.l Students can change pen color or eraser size by tapping and holding thecorresponding icon in the toolbox, then tapping the option in the expanded toolbox.

l Students can delete their own annotations by tappingDelete All.l If a student is using aMobi 360 as a learner device, theHide/Show andLock/Unlock icons will show in theMobi 360 digital screen. These icons indicatethe student device’s status; the student cannot use these to hide/show theannotations or lock/unlock the device.

Locking or Hiding the Screen in Multi-User ModeAs the instructor, you can quickly lock/unlock, hide or show information on the screen using the following icons:

Hide - Annotations are currently showing; tap to hide annotations in the selected region

Lock - Region is currently unlocked; tap to lock the region (users cannot continue annotating)

Show - Annotations are currently hidden; tap to show annotations in the selected region

Unlock - Region is currently locked; tap to unlock region for annotation

NOTETheHide/Show and Lock/Unlock icons are toggles that display the current state of the screen.

You can hide or lock one or more quadrants of theMulti-User screen. This may be useful if a particular student is writing ordrawing something inappropriate on the screen. Hiding a portion of the screen allows Insight 360 to capture the informationwritten or drawn on the screen, but keep the content hidden from the rest of the class. You can show hidden content if youchoose.

How to lock or hide the entire screen...

1 Start Multi-User Mode.

2 Tap near the top center of theMobi 360 screen.  

3 From theAllmenu, tap or .The entire screen will be locked or annotations hidden.

NOTEThese icons are toggles. To unlock or show annotations on the screen, tap the correspondingbutton again.

3 Optionally, use the available annotation tools to annotate the screen before sharing the screen with your students.l TapStart to share the screen with the connected Insight 360 Student app devices.l As students are annotating their screens, you can view them from the filmstrip across the bottom of the Insight360 Teacher app.

l Drag a student from the filmstrip into theShare Student area to display the student annotations on-screen. Youcan share up to four images simultaneously.

l Drag the student back to the filmstrip to remove them from on-screen.

4 Tap to prevent students from annotating their screens.5 TapStop to end Constructed ResponseMode.6 TapYes to leave Constructed ResponseMode.

ResultsThe Insight 360 Teacher app provides two types of question results:

l Question-specific results of themost recent Verbal, Tagged or ExamView question which can be viewed with theResponse Distribution and Student Performance Charts

Viewing the Performance and Item Summary ReportsThePerformance Summary displays the student name, number of correct answers and percentage of correct answers. ThePerformance Summary is similar to the Student Performance Summary report on theMy Results tab in the Insight 360software.

The Item Summary displays session question data by question number. The Item Summary also displays number of studentswho answered correctly, number of students who answered incorrectly, class percentage of correct answers, and type ofquestion. The Item Summary is similar to the Question Analysis report on theMy Results tab in the Insight 360 software.

NOTEThe Performance and Item Summary reports cannot be displayed on the classroom computerscreen.

1 Start a Verbal, Tagged or ExamView question.   

2 Tap .3 Swipe from right to left or left to right to view the Performance or Item Summary reports.

Viewing Scratchpad AnnotationsScratchpad annotations created by your students can be viewed from theMy Results tab of the Insight 360 software.

1 After the test is completed, click End Test.2 On the Test Endedwindow, click Close and View Results.

TheMy Results tab opens.

3 Click next to the student for whom you would like to view the scratchpad annotations.The student's scores open in a new window.

4 Click the image to view the annotation in full-screenmode. To exit full-screenmode, press theEsc key on yourkeyboard.

5 Optionally, click to save the image to your computer or to an external storage location, such as a USB drive.6 Click Close to return to theMy Results tab.

Ending a Class SessionA class session does not end until you tapEnd Class. If the teacher device hibernates or is turned off, the class will resumewhen the device is turned on.

Insight 360 Cloud saves class session information while the session is active. When a class session is ended, the Insight 360Cloud softwaremakes the session information available for review and editing. This informationmay include session date andstart time, screenshots and results.

You can retrieve session information from theMy Results tab in Insight 360 Cloud.
