What Are Hard Skills?

• Hard Skills are:

• Where the rules stay the same

• Can be taught in a school / from a book

• Involve Intelligence (IQ)

What Are Soft Skills?

• Soft Skills are:

• Where the rules fluctuate

• Not really taught in schools / trial and error

• Involves Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Why Are Hard Skills Important In Judging?

• The rules!

• We should have an excellent grasp of them

• The penalties!

• Each infraction has a fixed penalty (unless the head judge decides otherwise)

• The Processes!

• What needs to be done during a tournament (Deck Checks, Pairings)

So Are Soft Skills Important?
