Meaning of Modesty in IslamBeing aware of the what is right and what is wrong and

refraining from it due to fear of shame.Being modest in from of parent would be to talk politely

etc.Being modest in front of teacher would be to have respect

while gaining knowledge.Being modest on the street is to walk in an orderly fashion

with appropriate clothingBeing modest in front of friends would be not mention

about family problems or about sister.Being modest in general is to keep your dignity and respect

without any one pointing fingers.Being modest in front of Allah is to guard your brain and

your stomach from Haram things.

Humayd says the below words have been passed down from Prophets to Prophets

“If you have no shame, do what you want”. (Bukhari)

This is like a threat in which Prophet is saying “If you have no

shame then do what you want, for Allah will pay back”.

like Allah says in the Quran “Do

what you like, he sees what you

do”.

Or Prophet say “Whoever sells wine, let him be the butcher of

pigs

This is to inform us that a person

who has no shame will do whatever he

wishes.

As a person who has no shame

will cause himself to fall

into every indecent

behaviour.

Having shame in your self is important in IslamSalman Al Farsi says, “When Allah intends a

destruction of a salve. He strips him off shame.

Ibn Abbass says Shame and Iman a single plait of rope, if one is removed so it the other.

Prophet was more shy and modest then a virgin girl in her veil

Encouraged to have Haya (Shame)Imran Bin Husayn says the Prophet said

“Modesty only produces good”. (Bukhari)Prophet said to Al-Ashajj al Asri, “You have

two characteristics that Allah love, He asked, “What are they?” Prophet replied “Calmness and Modesty”. (Nasai)

Modesty stops a person from committing bad acts.

Benefits of being modestModesty refrains a person from committing

bad acts.Brings Taqwa, as the Umar said whoever

shows modesty hides himself, whover hides himself has taqwa whoever has taqwa is protected.

Keep balance in modestySometimes shaytan can trick you.You want to pray salah in school but you

are shy that people may say that you are pious.

This is shaytans trick.In good actions there is no modesty.
