Goodfellas Introduces the protagonists. The protagonists are shown doing what they usually do, which helps the audience identify them and for them to understand what they are like. They are violent and laid back as seen in the images.

Dress CodeThey dress smartly to give an impression to the audience that they are not ordinary people, and what they do is business, possibly serious business. The colours of the clothes represent the tone of the film. Time of DayMaking the scene at night can set the tone of the film, showing that something is going to happen and it’s a secret/it’s a bad “something”

2001: A Space Odyssey Epic MusicIt’s a well known piece of music, as the music builds up it reveals a big planet which go together.

This image shows the sun rising over the Earth which tells the audience that the story is about a new beginning. This image is of space (also mentioned in title) which tells the viewer to know it’s a sci-fi film. The image on the right shows that the film clearly has links to evolution as the monkey is just discovering that a bone can be used as a weapon.

Scream

The colours within the opening scene compare the danger the victim is in. The house is light inside meaning she is safe, but outside is dark which means it’s dangerous. When she turns the light off it then tells the audience that she’s not safe.

When the victim takes out the knife it foreshadows her demise, she also talks about her favourite scary movie as she takes out the knife which gives the audience hints on the genre the film is. Later on in the scene she also grabs that knife to defend herself when the killer enters the house, again foreshadowing the weapon she is killed by.

The shot of the house, gives the audience a feel of the setting. Also the swing and the tree are in the shot to foreshadow the victim’s whereabouts after her death.
