to

La forma going to se utiliza:

Para expresar la intención de realizar en el futuro alguna acción que ya está decidida.

What are you going to do at the weekend?¿Qué harás durante el fin de semana?I'm going to visit a friend near Bogota.Visitaré a un amigo cerca de Bogotá.

Ejemplo:

Para predecir acontecimientos futuros basándose en una evidencia presente.Ejemplo:

Look at those clouds. It's going to rain.Mira esas nubes. Lloverá. Nota: Este último uso no debe confundirse con el

del tiempo Present Continuous el cual indica una acción que está realizando en el momento en que se la menciona.

Compara ahora estas dos frases:Going to + infinitivo: I'm going to answer it. Present continuous: I'm answering it.

Formación de la estructura going to

Esta estructura se construye con las formas del tiempo Present Continuous del verbo go (I'm going, She's going, etc.) más el infinitivo del verbo principal precedido de la partícula to (to visit, to answer, etc.).

Para expresar una acción futura que sucederá independientemente de la intención del hablante.

Sujeto + Will (en todas las personas) + Verbo en infinitivo sin “to”

Negativo

Para expresar una decisión o pensamiento que surge en el momento de la conversación.

I don't know what to do ith my old computer... I'll sell it for you

Ejemplo:

Sujeto + Will (en todas las personas) + not + Verbo en infinitivo sin “to” (won't)

Para hacer PREDICCIONES (este uso aparece especialmente con verbos de pensamiento como think, relieve, to be afraid …).
