What is Global Warming? An Introduction

Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century and its projected continuation. Since the early 20th century,

Warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe.

Warming is expected to be strongest in the Arctic and would be associated with the continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost and sea ice.

Proposed policy responses to global warming include mitigation by emissions reduction, adaptation to its effects, and possible future reengineering.

The premise of global warming as an issue of debate is that industrial growth coupled with non-structured methods we as humans use to sustain ourselves has created a situation where our planet is getting progressively hotter.

So what causes Global Warming?

Its causes include:

Carbon Dioxide emissions from fossil fuels

Increase in usage of chemical fertilizers

Deforestation

Methane emissions

Pollution

Effects

The effects of Global Warming include:o Rise in sea levels, worldwide

o More Killer storms, by which I am referring to more severe Cyclones and Hurricanes

o Massive Crop Failures

o Widespread extinction of species

o Disappearance of coral reefs

Views on Global Warming

There are different views over what the appropriate policy response to climate change should be. These competing views weigh the benefits of limiting emissions of greenhouse gases against the costs. In general, it seems likely that climate change will impose greater damages and risks in poorer regions.

Controversy

The global warming controversy refers to a variety of disputes, significantly more pronounced in the popular media than in the scientific literature, regarding the nature, causes, and consequences of global warming.

The disputed issues include the causes of increased global average air temperature.

There is a strong consensus that global surface temperatures have increased in recent decades and that the trend is caused mainly by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases.

A few organisations hold non-committal positions.

What can YOU do to save Earth?

Every person is responsible for anything bad that Global Warming causes, which eventually decreases the life of our very own planet. So its your fundamental duty to help protect Earth by doing your part. Here’s what you can do: Plant trees. If you already have, plant more! Try using fuel efficient vehicles, or vehicles that run on

gases such as LPG. Save Electricity Whenever you spot someone cutting down a tree, make

sure that you atleast stop that person and explain how severe the consequences could be.

Spread knowledge about how chemical fertilizers should not be used in bulk and its high time that we switch to environment-friendly alternatives.
