ABOUT MRS. YOUNG

I am a native of Greenville, MS I am married with two children I have been teaching for 10 years I enjoy singing , cooking and enjoying life I love children of course I like to see people strive for excellence I enjoy watching people grow to their greatest potential

COURSE DESCRIPTION

• The course content is designed to provide a foundation for understanding global affairs and hemispheric concerns including current situations. The differing physical landscapes of the Western Hemisphere will be examined. Skill development will include but is not limited to the interpretation and application of maps, graphs, charts, political cartoons, primary documents and other social studies tools. The avenues for these concepts are developed through the social studies strands. The expanding theme that is incorporated in the framework refers to a curriculum progression in the study of people from self, families, communities, cities, regions, the United States and to the world. The framework is compromised of the five content strands: Domestic Affairs, Global Affairs, Civil/Human Right, Economics and Culture.

COURSE GOALS

By the end of the school year students will be able to: Define what makes civilization Recall characteristics of many civilizations Describe how achievements in the past have shaped today Work in groups with fellow classmates successfully

NO hall passes to the restrooms or any other destination will be issued during the first twenty minutes of class and the last twenty minutes of any class period.

CLASSROOM RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

Be on time for class. Be prompt-in your seat before the tardy bell rings and working on Bell Ringer. Be prepared with materials daily. Be polite and positive- respecting yourself and others. Be productive striving to do your best and turning in all assignments on time. Be a problem solver correcting problems peacefully before they escalate. Raise your Hand if you have a question or comment. Absolutely NO talking or walking without permission. NO PROFANITY No chewing, eating or drinking in class. No iPad usage during class unless instructed by the instructor. The bell does not dismiss you, ONLY THE INSTRUCTOR.
