THE EBOLA

It’s an epidemic which is going on in West African countries. It began in 2013 in Guinea and then it spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone. After that, Nigeria had been

controlled but there was another case in Senegal.

Cases of secondary infections of medical workers in the United States and Spain have occurred.

There are two kinds of fear nowadays in Liberia: contracting Ebola, and contracting any other sickness/disease.

On the surface life here looks normal. But don’t get wrong!, this is a country gripped by fear, anxiety, frustration, a sense of hopelessness and confusion. In less than five weeks, Liberia’s capital, Monrovia

has become the epi-center of the growing Ebola epidemic in West Africa.

In EE.UU the first person being infected by the Ebola has been a nurse who went to Africa to look after people infected there. She treated a man who had the illness, so she was infected because of that. Unluckily, some days later that man died.

The case of Ebola in Spain occurred because of the same thing. It was one nurse too who was infected first. She is isolated in another room. And she

cannot be visited by anybody, neither her family. The doctors say that they think that she has been improving every day and has a marked improvement.

Because of this illness they have sacrificed a dog recently. They weren’t sure that the dog had the Ebola but as there were some probabilities, they decided to sacrifice it... There have been a lot of demonstrations not to

sacrifice it. People didn’t agree with the decision, because they thought that it wasn’t clear if it had could be infected or not, and maybe it hasn’t got the illness but they sacrificed the dog anyway.

ASTE NAGUSIA 14 ’

Aste Nagusia is the Basque name for the festival which was celebrated this summer in Bilbao. It took place from the 16th of August to the 24th. The symbol of this festival is Marijaia.These days the Bilbao City Hall usually prepares several

concerts, activities and so on, for people to have fun.

This year they have had very good concerts and many funny things to do. People from all the country have come to the festival because many famous singers have performed.

There have been fireworks, bullfights; every day...a lot of music concerts...like Carlos Jean, who is one of the most famous DJs in all Spain.

Apart from him, Malu sang on the 18th of August at 23.30pm in Abandoibarra, one very famous place in Bilbao. That night the square was full of her fans, there were about 1 million

people watching her concert, it was one of the most anticipated and desired by the public because this year and last year she has been the coach of the very famous TV programme called “The Voice” with Antonio Orozco, who was singing in Bilbao on the 21st of August at 12pm in this festival too. The concerts were brilliant.

POPE FRANCISCO IS DOING GOOD HIS WORK!

Francisco Javier Martinez has been talking about the sexual abuse by the clergy in Granada saying the investigations into his diocese are continuing and chose an unusual homily to ask for forgiveness in the cathedral.

Something that probably has not been seen before in a Catholic cathedral as the Archbishop and several bishops with him lay down on the floor for several minutes.

The congregation was arriving for Sunday mass and many were greeted by the strange sight. The gesture came a week after the revelation about the sexual abuse, allegedly carried out by several of his bishops. All the bishops across Spain have asked to be pardoned for what has happened in Granada as the Police say more abuse reports are expected.

LIFESTYLE

TELEVISION In our opinion TV is an important thing, but we could live without it.

We wouldn't mind if we were restricted to see TV for an hour because there are more important things in life than to watch TV. If we had to choose which programme to see, we would see reality shows like Big Brother or Elder Brother.

We don't like the adverts, but we think it is important to advertise the new items that are released into the market. And for that reason, we sometimes have to see the adverts.

In our opinion, there is too much violence on television for example; in Sálvame (a popular talk show in tele5) the collaborators insult each other all the time! And sometimes during children's time.

The TV has changed for the worse in the last 50 years, because in the past there was only one series for all the afternoon and nowadays there are so many programmes and series and people are all the day in front of the TV.

All in all, people will see more and more TV in the future, because there are too many programmes for all tastes.

MORAL ISSUES

TOO OLD TO HAVE CHILDREN? There are two types of mothers. Ones that have a child at 16 and others that have a child in their 60s , like the lady in Romania and the businesswoman who had twins at the age of 59. What do you think about having babies at that age?

We think that it’s not normal to have a baby in your 60s because if you are that age when the child is 10 you are too old to look after him/her. And apart from that you’re not going to be physically strong to do things with your children.

If you have a baby at 16-17 you’re not mature enough to bring up a baby. And apart from that you must drop the school and that

isn’t a good lifestyle because if you don’t go to school in the future you’re not going to have a good job and you’re not going to have money to feed your children. Another problem could be the father, because at that age almost all the boys aren’t mature enough to act as a dad. You haven’t got money or time for the baby and instead of being you who educate the baby; it’s going to be your parents’ responsibility.

We think that choosing the baby’s sex isn’t a good idea either because then there are going to be too many more babies of one sex than of the other. Because in

China they can only have one child and they usually choose to have a boy.

In our society there is another concern, clonation. Is cloning people morally acceptable? We think that

cloning isn’t a good idea and they shouldn’t clonate people. Science sometimes isn’t suitable. Science is very useful for treating illnesses, but we should think twice about clonation.

FOOD AND HEALTH

The 12- year-old alcoholic.

On one hand is a good idea because then the street is dirty and the teenagers drink too much and they don’t control themselves. And the neighbours don’t have to support the scandal that teenagers do.

On the other hand , the street is the only place where they can drink , because a teen of 12 years old is not going to drink alcohol in his or her home, because it suppose that his or her parents must not know that they drink .

When you are conscious about what you are doing and when you are responsible of your facts. People shouldn’t be allowed

to drink alcohol when they are on TV, at

school, at football matches. But above all, it mustn't be allowed to drink if you are going to take the car because the car needs all the attention and because you don’t have to put on risk the life of other people.

If you drink only sometimes with control isn’t a bad thing but if you drink always affects to your liver and that has a consequence of having health problems. It’s something that is dangerous for the person who drinks and for the others because some people don’t control themselves and they become aggressive with the other people.
