E-COMMERCE:

Ecommerce has permitted firms to build a business sector vicinity, or to upgrade a current business position, by giving a less expensive and more productive

Page 4: Final presentation Web marketing Report

circulation chain for their items or services. One example of a firm that has effectively utilized ecommerce is Target. This mass retailer has physical stores, as well as has an online store where the client can purchase everything from garments to espresso producers to action figures.

Business to Business or B2B refers to electronic commerce between businesses rather than between a business and a consumer. B2B businesses often deal with hundreds or even thousands of other businesses, either as customers or suppliers. Carrying out these transactions electronically provides vast competitive advantages over traditional methods. When implemented properly, ecommerce is often faster, cheaper and more convenient than the traditional methods of bartering goods and services.

Electronic exchanges have been around for a long while as Electronic Information Trade or EDI. EDI requires every supplier and client to set up a devoted information join (between them), where E-commerce gives a financially savvy system for organizations to set up different, and specially appointed connections. Electronic business has additionally prompted the improvement of electronic commercial centers where suppliers and potential clients are united to lead commonly valuable exchange.

HISTORY OF E-COMMERCE ADVERTISMENT :

History of ecommerce dates back to the invention of the very old notion of "sell and buy", electricity, cables, computers, modems, and the Internet. Ecommerce

Page 5: Final presentation Web marketing Report

became possible in 1991 when the Internet was opened to commercial use. Since that date thousands of businesses have taken up residence at web sites.

At first, the term ecommerce meant the process of execution of commercial transactions electronically with the help of the leading technologies such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) which gave an opportunity for users to exchange business information and do electronic transactions. The ability to use these technologies appeared in the late 1970s and allowed business companies and organizations to send commercial documentation electronically.

Although the Internet began to advance in popularity among the general public in 1994, it took approximately four years to develop the security protocols (for example, HTTP) and DSL which allowed rapid access and a persistent connection to the Internet. In 2000 a great number of business companies in the United States and Western Europe represented their services in the World Wide Web. At this time the meaning of the word ecommerce was changed. People began to define the term ecommerce as the process of purchasing of available goods and services over the Internet using secure connections and electronic payment services. By the end of 2001, the largest form of ecommerce, Business-to-Business (B2B) model, had around $700 billion in transactions.

According to all available data, ecommerce sales continued to grow in the next few years and, by the end of 2007, ecommerce sales accounted for 3.4 percent of total sales. Now, E-commerce is being used for growth of business worldwide and is rapidly growing over the internet.

E-COMMERCE AND IT’S SCOPE :

Electronic Commerce encompasses one or more of the following:

•EDI

Page 6: Final presentation Web marketing Report

•EDI on the Internet

•E-mail on the Internet

•Shopping on the World Wide Web

•Product sales and services on the Web

•Electronic banking or funds transfer

•Outsourced customer and employee care operations

Electronic Commerce: Automates the conduct of business among enterprises, their

customers, suppliers and employees - anytime, anywhere.

Creates interdependencies between your company’s value chain and

those of your suppliers and customers. Your company can create

competitive advantage by optimizing and re-engineering those valuechain

links to the outside.

TYPES OF E-COMMERCE:

B2B (Business-to-Business)

Companies doing business with each other such as manufacturers selling

Page 7: Final presentation Web marketing Report

to distributors and wholesalers selling to retailers. Pricing is based on quantity of order and is often negotiable.

B2C (Business-to-Consumer)

Businesses selling to the general public typically through catalogs utilizing shopping cart software. By dollar volume, B2B takes the prize, however B2C is really what the average Joe has in mind with regards to ecommerce as a whole.

Having a hard time finding a book? Need to purchase a custom, high-end computer system? How about a first class, all-inclusive trip to a tropical island? With the advent ecommerce, all three things can be purchased literally in minutes without human interaction. Oh how far we've come!

C2B (Consumer-to-Business)

A consumer posts his project with a set budget online and within hours companies review the consumer's requirements and bid on the project. The consumer reviews the bids and selects the company that will complete the

Page 8: Final presentation Web marketing Report

project. Empowers consumers around the world by providing the meeting ground and platform for such transactions.

C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer)

There are many sites offering free classifieds, auctions, and forums where individuals can buy and sell thanks to online payment systems like PayPal where people can send and receive money online with ease. eBay's auction service is a great example of where person-to-person transactions take place everyday since 1995.

Companies using internal networks to offer their employees products and services online--not necessarily online on the Web--are engaging in B2E (Business-to-Employee) ecommerce.

G2G (Government-to-Government), G2E (Government-to-Employee), G2B (Government-to-Business), B2G (Business-to-Government), G2C (Government-to-Citizen), C2G (Citizen-to-Government) are other forms of ecommerce that involve transactions with the government--from procurement to filing taxes to business registrations to renewing licenses. There are other categories of ecommerce out there, but they tend to be superfluous.

Some advantages of ecommerce for consumers are:

Convenience:   Ecommerce can take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Selection:   Many stores offer a wider array of products online than they do in their brick-and-mortar counterparts. And stores that exist only online may offer consumers a selection of goods that they otherwise could not access.

Page 9: Final presentation Web marketing Report

E-commerce also has its disadvantages for consumers:

Limited customer service:If you want to buy a computer and you’re shopping online, there is no employee you can talk to about which computer would best meet your needs.

No instant gratification:

When you buy something online, you have to wait for it to be shipped to your home or office. No ability to touch and see a product. Online images don’t always tell the whole story about an item. Ecommerce transactions can be dissatisfying when the product the consumer receives is different than expected.

Cookies can track whether a user left a page without buying anything, so the advertiser can later retarget the user with ads from the site the user visited.

As advertisers collect data across multiple external websites about a user’s online activity, then they can create a detailed picture of the user's interests to deliver even more targeted advertising. This aggregation of data is called behavioral targeting.

Methods of Online Ads:

Contextual:In this method, the ads which are served to the user depend on the content of the site they are looking at. Kinds of Online Advertising People Not Like:

Internet users crave free content and most know that they will have to put up with some online advertisements to get this.

However, there are some kinds of ads which don't go down well with many internet users.

Popups:A major gripe of many web surfers is popups. These are ads which the viewer is forced to view ads which just pop up when you visit a page.

Unless it is highly likely targeted, it his very unlikely that this kind of ad will be successful.

Flash Intros:These are the video ads which appear on loading the page of an article and cover up what the reader is looking at.

Unless it is the kind of ad which grabs the attention of the visitor immediately, it is unlikely this ad will do more than annoy.

Overlays:These ads cover up the article web users are trying to read. It can be a struggle for a site visitor to find how to close the ad and make it go away.

Audio in Ads:

Page 16: Final presentation Web marketing Report

Videos on web pages often start playing automatically. Some of these come with sound, which starts as soon as the page loads.

Sudden bursts of audio can be annoying, especially if the visitor is viewing the page in a space with other people around.

In-Line Text Ads:These are text links which link words to other sites. They seem like normal links which are part of an article.

When a visitor clicks on them though, they will discover that they are just ads.

There are three primary ways to generate revenue from a website:

Page 18: Final presentation Web marketing Report

Ways of Paying for Online Advertising:

There are three ways in which online ads can be purchase include CPM, CPC and CPA:

CPM (Cost Per Mile):Using this model, the advertiser pays for the number of people who view the website. 'Per Mille' means per thousand visitors.

CPA (Cost per Action):With this model, the advertiser only pays out if someone clicks the ad and then goes on to purchase something.

So, there is only a cost if the ad is successful.

Cost per lead:You are paid each time a user signs up or provides contact information. This usually doesn't require a payment from the user. These programs typically pay somewhere between 50 cents and $3.00 per signup.

Cost per sale: You are paid each time a user buys one or more products. The commission is usually a percentage of the sale price, so the amount you earn for a sale depends on how much the user spends.

PPC (Pay per Click):This is the most common model for online advertising. In this case, the advertiser pays if someone clicks an ad.

Optimize your content on high priced keywords:

Page 19: Final presentation Web marketing Report

You can use the Google Ad Words Keyword Tool to find out what keywords get the highest bids in your niche. You can optimize your content in two primary ways.

Keyword focus:Select the two or three dozen highest priced keywords in your industry or niche. Then write content about these topics.

Keyword placement:

1. Title tags2. Subheadings3. Alt tags for graphics4. Filenames for graphics and web pages5. In hypertext linked words and phrases.6. In the first and last paragraphs

Choosing Ads Wisely:Which ads you choose to run depends on your audience, and you'll need to spend some time experimenting to determine what works best for you. In general, you should run as many CPM ads as possible assuming they are not priced too low to bother and experiment with CPC and CPA ads to fill the remaining ad inventory.

Most ad networks attempt to optimize the ads they show for your site, but you may find that some CPC and CPA ads are just giving away free advertising. Be sure to check your effective CPM regularly and run the ads that work best.

Don't forget to look at the ads themselves. These days flashing, seizure-inducing ads are common, and they don't even pay more than the nice respectable ads. I

Page 20: Final presentation Web marketing Report

recommend avoiding these ads unless they have a really good price, and there are some flashing ads I won't run at all. If your users are unable to enjoy your content because of an ad, they won't come back, and you'll make less money.

Generate Lots of Traffic to Website:

Search Rankings:Get highly ranked on the search engines for your keywords. In part, you achieve this.

Links:Get links and recommendations to your website from other sites, blogs, social media, directories, etc.

Ads: Pay for advertising to get people to your site so they’ll see the advertising there.

Creative advertising ideas-Sponsors:

Selling advertising is not a discipline that is set in stone – you can get creative about what you offer.

For example, SEO Entrepreneur offers content sponsorship, instead of standard advertising. Content sponsorship differs significantly from advertising in the following areas:

Sponsorship ads are embedded within the content.

Sponsorship links are follow links, passing SEO juice.

One sponsorship link per post.

In other words, advertisers can find a page that is directly relevant to their business (most likely they discovered it at the top of Google search), and claim it as their own. Like this:

This content brought to you by SEO Entrepreneur

“Tips, ideas & advice to help you start a business, get Web traffic & make money online!”

Ad Options:A standard 336 x 280px block ad (nofollow) above the fold in the right sidebarAn inline sponsor, framed text link (i.e. “This great content sponsored by ABC”)

The sponsor link is a follow link that passes authority, so you derive substantial SEO benefits from this. As opposed to a standard ad, which offers no benefit other than exposure and click thrus.

Page 22: Final presentation Web marketing Report

Sell advertising space on your web site:You could sell banner ads, classified ads or sponsor ads.

If you have enough web space, you could rent out subdomains and host other people's domains. Give hosting away for free (or sell it for cheap) and make money by including your banner ad on the web pages.

Target Potential Sponsors:

Narrowing prospects allows you to focus on the businesses most likely to become sponsors.

Use research to learn about your audience beginning with basic demographics such as age, gender, income, education level, number of children, hobbies and interests.

Identify companies with a similar audience that successfully align with your business mission.

Package Benefits And Set Spending Levels:Benefits built into sponsorship packages promote the sponsor’s participation and are sales tools for your organization.

Some corporations want their business name displayed prominently all over the event and others are happy with a few points of contact with your customers.

Page 23: Final presentation Web marketing Report

Conclusion:

Google Ad sense is by far the most popular affiliate program, but it is not the only one.

Start answering questions in forums and if possible, use a related link to your website for more information. Please note that if your website is not well-known or your article is not well-developed, your links may be considered as spam and deleted.Start Commenting on Other's websites. This way you will get noticed, they may link to your articles and you will get traffic.
