LOVE by Susan Downs

What a wonderful opportunity we have to show and share our love for one another on Valentine’s Day! On this day we can be as sentimental and poetic with our loved ones as we want to be, and we look forward to receiving expressions of love from those who care for us but don’t always demonstrate or verbalize their feelings. Valentine's Day is a special day – the only day in our calendar year completely dedicated to giving and receiving love. However, there is sometimes an emotional letdown at the end of this day because it is the only one in which beautiful gifts and joyous declarations of love are in abundance. What we sometimes don’t realize is that every day of the year is meant for loving. The apostle Paul advised us: Let all that you do be done in love.

There ought not to be one day, even one moment in a day, that we are not freely giving love to someone. (I Cor. 16:14)

ORCS Open House was well attended on Wednesday, Jan.

25th. There were over 50 families represented. Since the Open

House we have given more than 12 tours and have several scheduled for this week. Kindergarten Registration was January 26th and enrollment for the 2012 – 2013 school year is currently thirteen.

ORCS Kindergarten class said the Pledge of

Allegiance for radio station Spirit 105.3 on Monday, January 30th at 8:40 am. Way to go Kindergartners, you did a great job!You can still listen and view them saying the pledge by going to facebook.com/orcskirkland.

Each morning at 8:30 am the ORCS staff gathers for prayer together. We share thanksgivings and praises as well as needs and concerns. We always feel blessed by this shared time. If you have a special prayer request please contact the Director or Teacher. There is also a Prayer Request Book located next to the Sanctuary. You are able to write down your Prayer Requests that will be brought to the Lord during Sunday Worship Service and during the week.

Welcome 2012-13 Pre Kindergarten Teacher (M/T/W/Th am) Debbie

Laughlin!!!It is with great excitement that we would like to announce Debbie Laughlin will be our new 4 day morning Pre-K teacher.

Debbie comes to us with a background in Elementary Education, spent many years teaching in the public school system, has had all 3 of her children graduate from ORCS and most recently as our Early

Preschool assistant in the T,TH am class with  Mrs. Overland.  She has been an amazing support to ORCS through her

involvement with the board, auction, and a variety of other activities. She was born and raised in Kirkland and graduated from Washington State University with a BA in Education. Her teaching experience has

been a classroom teacher all over Washington and Idaho. Debbie loves being with her family. They love the

Oregon Coast and Great Grandma's farm in Idaho.

Dear ORCS Families,

We hope everyone is back in the swing of a New Year – if somewhat delayed by our big snow! As you know, in January, we held a drawing for a $75.00 discount on one month’s tuition if you brought in an item for our annual auction, Blessings, Good Fortune & Happiness being held on March 10, 2012.

The lucky winner is: Jamey BoscheeCongratulations and thank you all for your generosity!

If you did not have a chance to get a donation in this past month, don’t despair! Due to overwhelming response, we are offering another contest. Each time you bring in a donation item to be auctioned off, your name will be entered into a drawing for one of two $25.00 Gift Cards for Starbucks. The more items you bring in, the greater chance you have to win!

The deadline for the February drawing is Friday, February 24.

Blessings!
