WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR PRODUCT?

Target audience

I think the target audience for our film is people 15 and over. We wanted to target an audience like this because they would appreciate the whole concept of the film and also some of the footage that appears in the film would be too graphic for people under 15.

Why we don’t want to target a lower age?

If we went for a lower age for our target audience they might not understand the story line of the film and may get confused with what is going on. People at this age are most likely to watch these sort of films as they are interested in these topics and its issues that are happening in everyday life.

Establishing our target audience

Before we started to film our title sequence, we came up with a pitch of our film and pitched it to our media class. In this pitch we stated what genre we thought our film would be and we also explained what our narrative was. At the end of pitching our film idea we got feedback and some people didn’t understand our genre but the majority of our audience understood why we picked this genre. This is when we knew we had chosen the correct target audience.

Who we pitched to?

Most of the people that we pitched our film idea to were either 16 or 17 which was a similar age to our ideal target audience. We found this feedback useful because it proved to us that we didn’t have to change our target audience and that we could keep it the same.
