While working on this video I was introduced to various different editing styles and effects to enhance the video. For example, in the print screen to the left we added a transparent video effect to make the colours in the reality scenes and the dream sequences juxtaposed. I used a plethora of different effects in order to edit my video. This particular piece of software I have only used once before for a brief amount of time, therefore I only knew the basics such as cutting a clip or changing the volume of the sound on the song.

While working on this video I was introduced to various different editing styles and effects to enhance the video. For example, in the print screen to the left we added a transparent video effect to make the colours in the reality scenes and the dream sequences juxtaposed. You can see the settings of the effect used on these frames to create the filter. We had used a similar effect in the preliminary task however, we didn’t alter them to the extent we did in the first draft. We chose black and white to resemble old films. This is because the memories she is seeing are memories of her past relationships with the bullies.

In addition, we also introduced more advanced cuts. We worked with simple cuts such as the cross cut however in the montage scene there is fast paced editing of two different scenes creating a cross cut, as can be seen in the screen shot to the left. We were therefore able to make the video footage work in cohesion with the beats in the music. This means the editing pace and the beat of the song were cooperating together to make the video seem more professional and have the style and look of a real music video.

Lastly, we also used a range of transition effects throughout the video. For example cross dissolve. We used these when the tempo of the music became slower. It made the cuts between scenes smoother and less sharp meaning it fit well with the music. This allowed for a change in pace of the editing without it being glaringly obvious, it brings more subtlety to the editing style. You can see the final full first draft edit to the left on the last image.
