Dr. Thomas McMahon Barnegat has an extensive experience working with several leading educational institutions in the State of New Jersey. He earned the salutatorian title at high school and obtained scholarships like the Freed Foundation, Garden State Scholarship and George Link Business Scholarship. He holds a doctorate degree in Administration and Supervision from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.

A certified teacher, Thomas has certification in different teaching areas including Nursery School, Social Studies, Business studies and Elementary School. After completing his studies, he taught Social Studies and also introduced new programs including a special buddy program.

Dr. Thomas McMahon Barnegat was selected as a Business Teacher and designed an entrepreneur program with students. He received the Sallie Mae National Teacher Award, an honor given to the top 100 first year teachers in the United States. Apart from this, he became the youngest Assistant Commissioner of Education in Finance for the State of New Jersey.

Thomas assumed the position of Superintendent of Schools in three districts and started new programs, such as High Schools That Work, Middle Schools That Work, and quarterly student testing. He gained recognition for analyzing and developing new curricular programs and for constructing nearly 100 million in new facilities. Furthermore, he also started new classes including Mandarin in high school and middle school.

During his young age, he served as an Assistant Commissioner of Education in Charge of Finance. Thomas has set a record in history by becoming the youngest Assistant Commissioner of Education in Charge of Finance in the state. In addition to this, he held administrative positions in Toms River School District and the Plumsted Township School District. He has learned a great deal during his experiences in New Jersey School districts.
