your networks?

Page 7: CJP Tech Fellows - Lisa Colton

Help others, and they’ll help you.

Be a platform that’s mission centric, and

audience focused.

User generated

content may be more

valuable than your own.

Characteristics of Social Media

• Participatory: It blurs the line between producer & consumer, media & audience.

• Open and Democratic: Encourages voting, comments and the sharing of

information. Therefore seen as authentic and trustworthy.

• Conversational: Two (or more) way conversation rather than one-directional

broadcast. Is personal, specific, and engaging.

• Communal: Supports formation, growth & strength of communities around a

particular shared interest.

• Connected: Thrives on being connected, rather than being territorial and

proprietary.

#4:

ADD

VALUE

Page 24: CJP Tech Fellows - Lisa Colton

Social Content is Social Capital

• Social Capital is the value of the connections between and among social networks for increasing productivity, spreading information, and locating desired resources.

• Content should be newsworthy, unique, controversial, timely immediately useful and/or funny.

• 1:12 or 1:20 ratio

Your Unique Value

1) Identify a “target audience”

2) Write a “value-added” Facebook

status update.

(See P.O.S.T. resources

& worksheet on Diigo)

#5: Prepare for Constant Change: Anticipate The Shifting Market & Be Nimble

Page 29: CJP Tech Fellows - Lisa Colton

Shifts in Power / Service

Page 30: CJP Tech Fellows - Lisa Colton

How is parenting and family life

changing?

How does this impact your business and

“product” delivery?

How are you positioned to keep up?

Page 31: CJP Tech Fellows - Lisa Colton

How do changes in the way we

manage time and space impact Jewish

education, programs, classrooms,

teaching?

Content isn’t dead.

But the way we

engage with it is

changing.
