Reflection for 21 st Century Education
Before this class I never really thought about 21st century education or how it
can be different to teaching in other generations. I have learned there is a big
difference. Future educators are told how they need to use technology in the
classroom to help keep the students more interested or use critical thinking. The
role my group and I did was language and how it can help 21st century learning.
Language neither plays a huge role because the world is globalizing and English is
not the first nor second most used language anymore. Originally when we started
this project we only thought about language and that was it. How can language be
taught with 21st century technology? When soon realized it goes more into depth
than that. We had to improve our presentation PowerPoint and the idea behind the
project because we didn’t think about the other aspects of learning a language.
Another important aspect is learning about the culture and customs people have
that use that language as their native language. Children need to be taught more
about this subject all around. I am glad I hit gold when Harold asked us what else
language could do for a students education. I am starting to understand more what
is means to be a teacher and how teaching what needs to be taught is not just in the
textbook.
