We are researching children’s playground games and rhymes.

Our names are Rebekah and Chris

Do you think the games you play on the playground are the same as games children played 50 years ago?

Our question is: What games and rhymes are children playing on playgrounds?

‘Research’ is something you do when you have a question and you try to find the answer.

•Do worms like to live in wet or dry places?

•What did the Victorians eat?

•How fast does your heart beat when you are skipping rope?

…to the person sitting next to you one thing you did in the playground this morning or one thing you might do at lunchtime.

What did you do?

Questions we want to ask:

What are both boys and girls doing on playgrounds?

What things do you play with like jump ropes, trading cards, balls and other toys?

Do you get ideas for games from TV, video games and movies?

Do you practice football chants, songs and dance routines with your friends?

What you will see us doing on the playground…

Getting Started

Page 10: Chris Hatton 1

Tell us about your playground!

What do you play and where?

Use Flip camcorders to record play.

Talk to Chris about what you are doing or write things down for us.

Children as Researchers

Your games will go in a special place in the library for other researchers to listen to in the future.
