Computing Lesson Plan (3 out of 6) Based on LOTC Trip to the Cartoon Museum Make Your Own Superhero Comic Strip LO: Using facial expressions and body language to convey feeling. LO: Taking photos of freeze frames to tell a story. Success criteria (pupil-led generation of): -I can use an iPad to take photos. -I can select and sequence 6 frames to tell a story. -I can use an iPad to edit photos, e.g. rotating, using filters and other effects, and cropping. Intro: -Discussion of symbols in an image (e.g. for power, love, etc.) potential props. -Drama exercises to explore positioning, body language and facial expression. Main: -Based on storyboard completed in previous lessons, in groups of 4, pick 6 frames to act out and photograph. -Discussion of use of iPads to take and edit photos. -Edit photos on iPads. Plenary: -Each group to pick “best” frame and discuss why (focus on use of symbols, positioning, body language and facial expression). Key questions: -What makes a successful comic strip? -What makes a powerful image? -How can you show something without using words? -In what ways can you change an original image? Next lessons(s): putting together frames and captions to create comic strip using Comic Life app.
