TAKE THE PENYOuR BEST IS ST I L L uNWRITTEN

For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of a life of abundance. I come from a very modest middle-class background, but I always imagined more. Much more. My parents ingrained two things in me growing up. First, you can do anything you want to do if you work hard enough, and second, whatever you do, be the best you can be at it. Whether you are a cashier in a grocery store (which I was for my teen years) or a doctor (which I have never been, but have played one on TV!), the message was always very clear: work hard and be your best. So I did. I worked hard, and over time I built a successful career as an actress and entertainer. I worked insane, crazy hours and traveled a lot, but I didn’t care. I loved what I was doing and I was building the life of my dreams. Things were good. until they weren’t anymore. Nothing earth-shattering happened. But after years of trying to get pregnant, I was. Nine months later, our beautiful son Jack was born. I was 44 years old and a new mother. My husband and I were both actors, so there was no steady income or security with our jobs. Life became a little terrifying. I was working more steadily around the time that Jack came, so we decided Paul would stay home with him and I would continue to work to maintain the life we had built. Suddenly, the career I had dreamed of and worked so hard to create was not so much fun. In fact, it was coming between me and mother-hood and I was miserable. But I had no choice … or so I thought.

I had no Plan B. I had never believed in them. Because being an actress was always such a difficult road, I truly believed that a Plan B would be too appealing and I would use it. I figured if I wanted to be successful, I couldn’t have anything else to fall back on. Crazy, I know. But now there was Jack and I was missing out on all the little miracles a child brings. I knew I didn’t want to give up my career. But I needed the flexibility and freedom to make career choices based on how they would affect my family and my son’s needs, not on the need to pay the mortgage.

I wasn’t out there looking for something. I had been an actress my whole life and, to be honest, I didn’t think I could do anything else. When my friend and colleague, Amy Sky, first came to me with Arbonne, I thought two things. First, something horrible must have happened in her life to have driven her to start this business, and second, I was insulted that she would think I would ever consider joining her. I told her quite definitively that it was not for me. I could never see myself doing anything like that. What I didn’t say to her was that I thought she had lost her marbles and must have somehow fallen into financial ruin. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Reluctantly, I agreed to try the products. Much to my surprise, I fell in love with them immediately. Having always had very dry, sensitive skin, it never occurred to me that the products I was using could actually be the culprit. Suddenly my skin was glowing and hydrated. I purchased the products from Amy immediately. But the business opportunity? Please!

Then my wonderful husband reminded me that I was absolutely miserable spending so much time away from Jack, and that not only was Amy a brilliant businesswoman, but she also lived in a bigger house than we did. Then the kicker: he reminded me, as he so often has, that he believed me to be an extraordinary person who should always live an extraordinary life and never let fear stand in the way of that. Perhaps Arbonne was going to be the vehicle I needed to deliver that.

I decided to jump in and not look back. Blinders on, I did everything wrong for the first six months of my business. I still somehow managed to make it to the Area Manager level, making enough money to make a difference in our lives. It was at that point that I thought if I could do everything wrong and still succeed, just imagine what I could do if I fol-lowed the recipe and did what those who came before me had been telling me to do! So, I followed the recipe and before I knew it, my initial goals of a little extra time and money were met and I was well on my way to the top. What my incredible upline had been telling me would happen was indeed happening! And it was happening on a much bigger scale than I had ever imagined. Not only was I spending precious time with my family and paying the bills, but I was now build-ing an unbelievable future life for us. And I was accomplishing all of this by helping other people and sharing the Arbonne products. What an incredible concept. And what a wonderful way to create success. I wasn’t ready for and never even considered how much I would love this job. I love the people, the company and the person I am becoming as a result of what I am doing. Who would have thought it. I am a savvy businesswoman who is in control of her life. I am present in my son’s life and am a happy, confident wife and partner. I have an unbelievable team of people who are no longer colleagues, but cherished friends and family who I hold dear to my heart. We are locking arms and going all the way to the top, together.

success strategy:

Arbonne Independent Consultant, National Vice PresidentCamilla Eves Nation; Toronto, ON

The scariest thing about Arbonne is how close I came to saying no. I will be forever grateful that I had the courage to swallow my pride for long enough to know what I was saying no to, and then to say yes instead.

To my cherished friend, ENVP Amy Sky: I will thank you every day for the rest of my life for the gift you gave to me and my family. I know I was on your chicken list, so it wasn’t easy for you to come to me. We were the blind leading the blind in the beginning, but baby, look at us now!

To ENVP Sue Cassidy: Thank you for being the tremendous leader that you are and for paving the road to the top for all of us to follow.

To ERVP Linda Huntington: Thank you for all the calls and pep talks and for keeping my eye on the prize, and for inspiring me through love and encouragement to always keep growing. You are the best.

To EAM Joanne Vizzini Lobo: I am so proud of you. You were my first business partner to stick. You hung in there as we learned together how to make this work. You show me every day what it is to persevere and succeed, no matter what. I love you and cannot wait to hand you your keys. You are an inspiration not only to your team, but to everyone who crosses your path. I will see you at the top, my friend. There is a deck chair in Hawaii with your name on it!

To RVP Lital Mintz Snir: You epitomize strength and patience. When I met you, you were so shy you could barely speak. Look at you now! You have taught me so much about what is possible if you are willing to grow. Through you, I have learned the importance of staying calm in the face of adversity. And sometimes, I actually succeed at it. Thank you for being such a great friend and making my job so much fun.
