Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) is applied for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning. CALL embraces a wide range of information communication and technology applications and approaches to teaching and learning foreign languages, from the "traditional" drill-and-practice programs that character CALL in the 1960s and 1970s to more recent manifestations of CALL.

Stages of development, based on the explanation of Artimurti

a. Behavioristic CALL- Implemented in 1960’s and based on the behaviorist theories of learning.- It could be referred to as “ drill and practice”- In this case, the computer was as a vehicle for delivering instructional materials to the student.

b. Communicative CALL- It was based on the communicative approach to teaching which became famous in the 1970’s and 1980’s.- This approach felt that the drill and practice programs of the previous decade did not allow enough authentic commincation to be of much value.

c. Integrative CALL Multimedia- Multimedia technology – exemplied today by CD-ROM-allows a variety of media text, graphics, sound, animation, and video, to be accessed on a single machine.

Advantages of CALL 1) CALL is good for motivating students to study English

2) Students can get different types of input using a computer.

3) Learning can be individualized using computers.

4) CALL can overcome barriers of time and place

5) Teachers can get materials from commercial companies, networks, or databases, even from foreign countries.

Search Engine Search Engine is a software system

(software) that are designed to search data or information on the world wide web (www). The search results will display a series of information sourced from a specific website/blog, search results is often called Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). In addition to the pages of the website, the information displayed can include images, video, or other file type. Search engines do logging in real time by leaning on the algorithm were already organized in the web crawl. This is what sets it apart with web directories (web directory) that usually do the logging manually by humans (human editors).

The benefits of search engine

The benefits of search engine is doing a search of the data or information that we need. We just need to type a specific keyword on a search field provided, and search engines will work and present sources that are relevant to that keyword. And it only takes a few seconds. Can't imagine if this technology didn't exist. How do we find relevant information among millions of sources available? This search engine works like a book index is usually located in the back yard. It shows the location of the word or the term among millions of other words in the book.

The workings of search engines

Based on the explanation from google , google has a software or software

called Web Crawlers. As in the discussion of the notion of search engines that

explain that search engine is a software system. True to its name, this software

works to find web pages that are available to the public. Please note that not all

pages of the website can be found. This case concerns the setting its own

webmaster, if that web page will be published or not. Sometimes webmasters

want hidden courtyard with a reason so that it will prevent web crawlers find it.

Google's Web Crawlers is also known by the name "Googlebot". As we do

browsing on a website or blog, this robot noticed that page and follow any links

that were there for is then brought back to google's servers.
