From Lynns sorority cookbook: Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Pineapple Ingredients 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces 1 medium pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch pieces 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Coarse salt Directions 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss together sweet potatoes, pineapple, oil, and cayenne pepper. Season with salt. Roast until sweet potatoes and pineapple are tender and golden, 30 to 35 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Cook's Note: Good with baked ham, short ribs, or roast chicken.

Words, glorious words Images: Any photographs, drawings, videos, cartoons, diagrams, charts, etc. Plagiarism: Taking someone elses work and using it as your own Copyright: The exclusive right of the originator to use or give permission to use a piece of work Copyright Infringement: The use of copyright protected work without permission
  6. 6. How NOT to find images:
  7. 7. What did I do wrong? What are you going to find, if you do a search using the book title? Official publisher, author, and/or movie images linked to the book title. What do you want to search for, instead? Images that represent the setting, characters, elements in the plot, and important symbols from the book.
  8. 8. First, decide on a few things-- Main character: Name and general description Setting: Basically, time and place (era, if thats important) Conflict:What is it that the character wants, but cant get? Symbols:Any major symbols from the story Mood: Overall
  9. 9. Next, make your wish list of images: Ponyboy (14 year old boy, greaser, long dark hair) Greasers Socs Rumble Church burning Hospital bed
  10. 10. Where to find images to use? Katy ISD Database: Katyisd.org > Student > Secondary Portal > Library Resources > Britannica Image Quest Filtered Google Search: Google.com > Images > type in search keywords > SearchTools > Usage Rights > Labeled for Noncommercial Reuse with Modification The images you want to use are those available through Creative Commons License or those within Public Domain.
  11. 11. Found a picture, now Im done. Right? Not exactly. You have avoided Copyright Infringement, but if you dont cite the source, you will be plagiarizing.
  12. 12. To avoid plagiarism-- Make sure you copy down where you found the image. Not just Google.comthe actual website where the image was located. If you are using the school database, the information youll need is on the page with the image. Use MLA style to cite your source.
