At Socratic Labs, we believe education is the cornerstone of society. We believe every learner deserves access to quality education. We value teachers. We view technology as a means to amplify great teaching and scale customized learning.

Socratic Labs’ mission is to foster innovation in education. We support entrepreneurs who are focused on solving problems for learners and for teachers. The Socratic Labs community was formed to facilitate better communication among all stakeholders in education; provide resources essential to building great edtech startups; and leverage a network of mentors and collaborators in the pursuit of big goals in education entrepreneurship.

Blue Ridge’s mission is to help connect people living in high poverty communities to the opportunities, resources, and support that they need to fulfill their full potential. We pursue our mission though innovation – by helping to build new ventures that apply technology to increase social and economic mobility in the United States.

BRFNY is promoting edtech in NYC and helping ensure its promise reaches low-income communities.

New orleaNs eNtrpreNeur week / educatioN NOEW, the culmination of The Idea Village’s annual Entrepreneur Season, has become the premier showcase event for the New Orleans entrepreneurial ecosystem. NOEW 2013 is expected to be ten times the size of the inaugural year with 3,000 of the nation’s most innovative business leaders, financiers, entrepreneurs, and students anticipated to be engaged to support local entrepreneurs through 55 events. Last year, NOEW engaged 1,000 of the best and brightest local and national minds to invest $1,023,946 in capital, strategic consulting and resources to 475 New Orleans entrepreneurs at 48 different events.

On March 21st, five edtech startups that have gone through the 4.0 Schools Lab Accelerator will take the stage at NOEW Education Day to pitch their new ventures for the chance to win $25,000:. enrichED, Andre Feigler. mSchool, Elliot Sanchez. izoNe field trip Two K12 schools from the iZone family will host Socratic Labs’ cohort companies (travelling to schools via school bus) to demonstrate educator and student needs in the field.

hack ed 2.0 (gates/faceBook)The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Facebook are teaming up to host HackEd 2.0, an education-centered hackathon bringing together ed tech enthusiasts, education experts, and the world’s best developers. A team from Socratic Labs will spend a day at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park building Facebook apps for college-going, social learning, and out-of-school study on the world’s largest social networking platform. The best app in each category will win $5,000...and lets not forget the unparalleled networking opportunity.

leaNux NycLeanUX NYC is three days of cutting-edge learning and inspiration for designers, developers, product managers, and entrepreneurs. 30 speakers (including Heather and Katie from Unbound Concepts), 16 workshops, all awesome.

DR. ROSE B. ENGLISH SCHOOL is an elementary-middle school with 715 students from pre-kindergarten through grade 8. The school population comprises 78% Black, 19% Hispanic, 1% White, and less than 1% Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander students. The student body includes less than 5% English language learners and 16% special education students. Boys account for 45% of the students enrolled and girls account for 55%. The school is located at 111 Bristol Street, Brooklyn NY 11212.

SOUNDVIEW ACADEMY FOR CULTURE AND SCHOLARSHIP is a junior high-intermediate-middle school with 216 students from grade 6 through grade 7. The school population comprises 36% Black, 61% Hispanic, 1% Asian students and 1% other students. The student body includes 5% English language learners and 24% special education students. Boys account for 52% of the students enrolled and girls account for 48%. The school is located at 885 Bolton Bronx, NY 10473.

asu/gsV educatioN iNNoVatioN suMMitLast year, over 800 folks (including more than 100 CEOs) converged on Scottsdale, AZ to discuss the latest trends and rockstars driving innovation in education (and yeah, that includes money). This year’s speakers include Steve Case (AOL), Tim Draper (Draper Fisher Jurvelson), and other notables from ASU and GSV.

NsVf suMMitThe invite-only event in San Francisco promises a lively gathering of top-notch entrepreneurs, educators, policymakers, and rabble-rousers who don’t shy away from harsh words. Last year started with a “storm the Bastille” cry from Howard Fuller and ended with Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.
