What society though about women in general during the era?

-Cooking- Nurse for children-Serve her husband

What she did to challenge that?

• Men were sent to war and women were suppose to stay home and take care of the house and children.

• During war soldiers were able to:– Stay in women’s home– Get feed– Get take care of– Has the advantage to take over food and shelter

What were the consequences/benefits?

Consequences- Was sentence to jail

Benefits- Was able to save the bridge at Fort Royal.

-Reporter was interviewing a union soldier about their battle plans.-Belle overheard the plans.-Wrote everything down and send it down South.
