Ștefan Luchian was born in 1868 in Ștefănești. He gratuated 3 Faculties of Arts: in Bucharest, Munchen, and then, in Paris. In 1900 he suffered the first symptoms of multiple sclerosis, which was to haunt him for the rest of his life. Even if he lived in poverty and the disease has affected his abilities, Luchian made a lot of impressive work. After 16 years of suffering, he dies in 1916 in Bucharest. • Nicolae Grigorescu was born in 1838, in Pitaru.

• At the age of 23 he recieved a scholarship to Paris from the Minister of Culture, Mihail Kogălniceanu. There, Grigorescu will graduate the Art Academy.

• He was attracted by the artistic concepts of the Barbizon school, which preceded the Impressionism.

• In 1877 he was called to accompany the Romanian Army as a "frontline painter" in the Romanian War of Independence.

• Grigorescu died in 1907 in Câmpina, leaving over 2500 paintings.

• He was a Romanian sculptor, painter and photographer who made his career in France.

• Brâncuși grew up in the village of Hobiţa, Gorj, near Târgu Jiu, an area known for its rich tradition of folk crafts, particularly woodcarving.

• Brâncuși always dressed in the simple ways the Romanian peasants did. His studio was reminiscent of the houses of the peasants from his native region.

• Born in the little town of Casimcea, Tulcea county, Ion Jalea studied first at The School of Arts and then at the Academy of Beaux Arts in Bucharest, where he was the pupil of the renowned Romanian sculptors Frederik Storck and Dimitrie Paciurea.

• The final touch of his artistic education was given in Paris at the Académie Julian, with the sculptor Antoin Bourdelle.

• Ciprian Porumbescu (born Ciprian Golembiovski on October 14, 1853 – June 6, 1883) was a Romanian composer born in Sipotele Sucevei ,Bucovina. He was among the most celebrated Romanian composers of his time; his popular works include ”Crai nou”, ”Trei culori”,” Song for the 1st of May”, ”Ballad for violin and piano”, and ”Serenada”. In addition, he composed the music for ”Pe-al nostru steag e scris Unire”, which was used for Albania's national anthem, Hymni i Flamurit. His work spreads over various forms and musical genres, but the majority of his work is choral and operetta.
