Inception – 2010 Inception opens with loud sounds of waves of the sea crashing against the shore which makes the viewer automatically think that some sort of danger, as the first big wave comes in it reveals a man on the sand looking damaged, hurt and breathing heavily (close up shot). As the man is revealed from underneath the waves the camera then shoots children running around in slow motion (long and medium shot) playing and we hear their shouts and screams as they run around the beach having fun, the man looks at the children as if he envy’s their freedom and the good times they’re having. Some bassy music is then added to create tension as we see someone poking the man on the shore with a gun, the man then shouts something in another language therefor making the viewer wonder who he was shouting too and what about. As the music continues there is then a long shot as the camera moves up the beach towards a building. Because of this we can guess the film will be action/thriller.

Inception – 2010

Inception opens with loud sounds of waves of the sea crashing against the shore which makes the viewer automatically think that some sort of danger, as the first big wave comes in it reveals a man on the sand looking damaged, hurt and breathing heavily (close up shot).

The whole scene then changes but the uneasy music still continues, the camera is then shooting inside a big dark room with a few dim lights, it makes you think where is this? What happened to the man? Has he been taken to this suspicious looking room? Subtitles then appear on the screen as some unusual looking people appear. The camera then slowly approaches a man in a chair who looks like some sort of boss, everything is really quiet as this man then places a small spinning top on the table and the music begins again.

Twilight: New Moon

The opening to this film is set in a regular looking family living room with normal objects within; chairs, tables, lamps etc. However due to the fact its Bellas birthday there are candles, presents, flowers and other celebratory items. The scene starts with Bella entering, a full close up is used here to capture bellas facial expression when she enters the party, she says nothing and sighs but yet with a sort of smerk on her face as if shes not too happy or too sad, this creates tension as the viewer wonders why is she not happy and excited as its her birthday? It suggests something bad is soon to come.

Music is playing throughout as she enters and alice grabs bellas hand and drags her down the stairs, sound effects are used when we were the bang of their feet on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. A long shot is used as theyre coming down so we are able to see bella eneter the area with all the family in and all their reactions to seeing her.

The background music continies to play as the family approach her wishing her a happy birthday and hugging her, it all seems quite pressurised as bella is looking down at the floor as she accepts the awkward hugs. Sound effects are then used when alice takes a picture of her, the flash stunts bella and she looks at alice in a way as to ask what she was doing. A medium shot is then used to allow the viewer to see the whole family as theyre presenting bella with her presents. This whole time Jasper is stood mysteriously in the back waiting to attack.

Still throughtout the family are just having regular conversations with bella as she recieves her presents, then the music starts to drown out as an intense loew pitch drum role comes in as she cuts her finger on wrapping paper while opening a present, Close up and shallow focus shots are used.

Deep bassy music then comes in as a drop of blood hits the floor with a bang. The tension rises as edward and jasper make eye contact and the camera switches from both of their faces, edward knows what jaspers about to do but it makes the viewer quation why theyre looking at eachother in these mysterious ways. Jasper is then thrown into the air by edward in an attempt to save bella, he flies in slow motion backwards towards the camera as if hes going to fly out and hit the viewer. The whole Family then begin to fight as bella sits in the corner bleeding because in an attempt to save her she got thrown at a piano dure in jaspers attack.

Narnia

The opening to narnia starts picth black with a low basy ringing noise getting louder and more drum beats beging to come in, you then see lights moving around as the camera zooms out into the inside of a plan with a three men inside a plane, this has an effect on the viewer because it makes them question whats going on due to the dark and mysterious opening

Multiple shots are used when filming inside of the plane, medium, close up and long shot (when filming outside). Everything is really dark and it is hard to see whats going on, the music continues to get louder as more distinctive instruments come in. the camera then changes to a child stood at a window watching the fighter planes fly.

The shot then moves inside of the house and films the mum running towards her son shouting his name, the tension increases as the music continues aand the filming becomes shaky as if the camera its self is a person running around. Massive bangs start to happen as the boys mother screams at him and the brother drags him away.

T

he mother then runs into other rooms to collect her other children, shes screaming as a sloe up shot is used to film their feet running, it makes the viewer wonder where theyre headed to.

The family run for their lives outside of the house to the shelter, still the loud orchestrial music is playing with bangs from bombs throughout, the family then end up safely in the shelter but still shook up from what they had experienced.

SUBMARINE

"UK Film Council" is what first appears on the screen and is introduced by film 4. The film starts already panning, as if the movie had previously started before the film was taken. The camera moves slowly around the boy’s bedroom and the sound of crashing waves fades in, we then suddenly cut to some opening credits. The sound of seagulls then comes in as we start to pan again in the bedroom, giving a panorama of the room. More credits come in again before continuing to pan more and we see a boy staring out the window. There’s then a voice over of who we can only guess is the boy, he speaks about his thoughts and then himself. There is then a jump to a medium close up and then a sudden jump to a close up and his eyes look straight towards us. Mysterious, calm music starts as we jump from clip to clip, there’s then a shot of water and "Submarine" appears. There’s then another medium-close up of the boy who was in the bedroom from an angle as if the viewer is stood behind him and then there’s a close up in the same position.
