The majority of the people who responded to our questionnaire are within our target audience as they are between the ages of 15 and 20. Also we had even numbers of male and female to give a range of opinions and making sure the answers are not biased.

The majority responded that psychological horrors were their favourite sub-genre of horror films. This is good because this is what our opening scene’s genre is, meaning we are catering our production towards their opinions. A small amount of people chose slasher; we could incorporate one or two of the conventions of slasher to appeal to this minority. The highest rated horror film out of the ones I mentioned in my questionnaire was Paranormal Activity. This has allowed us to decide to use some of the techniques they use in this film, such as holding the camera as if one of the characters is filming it, giving it a more realistic effect.

After asking which location would be best and most effective to use in our horror opening, the majority answered abandoned buildings, woods and mental asylums, although the others were seen as good too like haunted houses. Due to the fact these locations may be difficult to be able to film in such as mental asylums, we have decided to film it outside and a house, incorporating the woods. Because of the fact it will be filmed around a house it will be seen as more realistic and make them feel as though it could happen to them, also using the outdoors with trees and empty wood areas will give the isolated feel that the audience will be looking for. Red, black and grey were the most popular colours that the target audience think we should use in our opening scene. Therefore we will include these within the mise en scene such as costumes and make up and also within the editing and the title sequences.
