Why not “textbook” history?

Since textbooks often contain a lot of topics but do not engage students with deeply explained contents, feature films are an interesting option.

INTRODUCTIONThis study is aimed to provide an example of the way in which film history and “textbook” 20th Century American history is proper for eight graders.

Feature films describe social and emotional characteristics of society, helping students to remember historical people,

events, and movements.

Since 20th century’s historical documents can be easily

understood through visual media literacy, feature films

also provide opportunities to teach it.

1. 12 years old students, are the focus of TV and Hollywood marketing.

2. The work was made in a Particular school on classroom about 15 to 20 students.

The purpose is to give the student a sense of emotional and social aspects of the eras as they study the drier historical facts.
