On 13th February a very unsual race is run between Alaska and Canada: the Yukon Quest. The participants are huskis and their mushers.

Mushers have special trucks to transport the dogs and dogs have in the trucks special compartiments.

The dog race 65 kilometres every day. It's a difficult race. When the dogs stop a veterinarian examines the dogs.

The muhers have eight to fourteen dogs. They race 1,650 km (one thousand six hundred and fifty kilometres) on snow and ice.

The dogs have special bootees. They protect them from the cold. The dog stop to eat and sleep three times in a day. They sleep on straw.
