Nurses always have the idea of Florence Nightingale at the bedside. But I think there's no such thing as a bedside nurse anymore. That's true in the sense that no one has the full care of a patient. The RN's makes the plan but spends less time at the bedside. Sometimes, no matter what we do, nothing can change inevitable outcome. Sometimes patient's don't want out help.

Nurses check blood pressure of39 patients. Taking weights and adding intake and output can make a nurse bored. This is a problem in all hospitals.

Nurses have little freedom. You can't laugh very loud in the area. When they are feeling sick, they wake up in the morning and they know that the staffing is going to be short that day, they force themselves to get in there.

Nurses are go-betweens. Everybody wants the nurse to do everything. If the doctor wants something done, he tells the nurse. If the X-ray slip doesn't get over to X-ray Department, the nurse gets the call. When the family members want certain things done for mom or dad, they go to the nurse.
