People have realized the merits of using the reclaimed wood over the green wood. Apart from having a positive effect on the environment it would also lead to various other benefits like the availability of a better quality wood for various purposes. It has been proven that the reclaimed wood is sturdy, beautiful and more economical than the green wood. One domain in which the wood is used quite extensively is the flooring of the houses. Till a few decades back large number of trees were felled to satisfy the demands for flooring of various establishments. But the recognition of the reclaimed wood as a better option has really changed the equations. A brief history of trees in North America When the explorers and settlers arrived in north America the forests that they saw were different than what we see today. At that time the trees were several hundred and in some cases thousands of years old. The forest were brimming with old growth timber. But the process of industrialization and other requirements led to a massive destruction of the virgin forests. Majority of these felled trees were used in the factories, mills,barns and other places. The present Reclaimed lumber is the wood that has been taken for reuse. The large trees that were used to build factories and mills are now reclaimed and reused in reclaimed antique flooring, exposed beams, paneling, and reclaimed wood furniture.
