Winners announced for photography competition

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford is delighted to announce the winners of their photography competition. Hannah Venable, age 15, won with her photo of her Bowers Lane Reservoir in the under 18’s category whilst Pauline Keating from Bramley won with her shot of a field of poppies in the adult category. On Friday 14th September, Hannah and Pauline were presented with their prizes by White Lion Walk’s Centre Manager, Steve Cotney. They won a digital camera tripod, a membership to the Guildford Photographic Society, a year’s membership to the National Trust, an introduction to bee’s lesson at White Lion Walk plus an A3 canvas print of their photo. The photography competition, which launched in July, invited local residents to capture nature at its best within the Surrey area in celebration of White Lion Walks commitment to the environment. With an overwhelming amount of entries, the competition was tough. All of the entries were displayed within an exhibition at the shopping centre during the month of august, where six finalists were then picked by a panel of judges. The final two winners were then chosen by a public vote through the Surrey Advertiser. Steve Cotney commented: “We received so many incredible entries. It’s great to see the talent that Guildford has to offer and it’s fantastic to think we may have uncovered some budding photographers.”
