What is morning sickness?Morning sickness is when mum feels like she needs to vomit, or feels dizzy or sick. This is because of the changes in pregnancy hormones. Mum can feel sick at any time of the day. It normally happens in the first 3 months of pregnancy but it can last longer.

Tips to help mum:» Talk to your doctor or midwife for tips to help you cope

» Try not to eat fatty and spicy foods. These foods can make you feel worse

» Eat small amounts of food often

» Eating dry, plain crackers can help you feel better

» If you do vomit, it is a good idea to wash your mouth out with water.

Tips for dad:» Have a glass of water by mum’s bed when she wakes up

» Try not to cook or eat meals that make mum feel sick. The smell and taste of some foods can make her feel sick.

Space for your notes

If mum is sick a lot or for a long time, it is best to take her to see your doctor.
