Venturing Crew 2001 has a Philmont expedition reservation in 2010. This expedition will

include 12 days backpacking through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in New Mexico with many

exciting activities along the way. This is considered by many to be the ultimate Scouting

activity, and is one which a Crew may only apply for every other year. We have a limited

number of positions available on our expedition, and will utilize a selection process to

allocate the expedition slots to those who express interest on the application form. A decision

about allocating our expedition slots will be made within two weeks after the application

deadline, which is January 27, 2009.

���� Estimated cost of the expedition will be $1,300 to $1,500, with the actual cost to be

determined based upon anticipated travel costs.

���� The fee will include 12 days at Philmont, meals, pre- and post-Philmont activities and

lodging, two expedition t-shirts, and any necessary crew gear.

���� Up to five required pre-Philmont preparatory campouts will be scheduled in 2009 and

2010 – at an additional cost of approximately $30 to $40 per trip.

���� Personal gear and spending money will be an individual responsibility.

���� A deposit of $100 will be required within two (2) weeks of being notified that you have

been allocated a slot on the expedition. A payment schedule will be published later

for the remaining balance.

���� Should your plans change, refunds may be available after another person takes your

place on the expedition.

During the summer of 2002, 28 participants (21 Advisors and 7 youth) were not allowed

on the trail because they did not meet the height/weight requirements. THESE

PARTICIPANTS WERE SENT HOME AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE!
