Food For Thought...1) Read & think about the quote below 2) Turn to your shoulder buddy

and share your thoughts

“The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn't need to be reformed -- it needs to be transformed. The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions.”

Ken Robinson, International Advisor on Education

This is certainly a large part of RTI, but how is this directly-related to LIFE? Can this be covered during questions?
Geraldine Webb-Harris
In the presentation we are speaking of LIFE, RtI, Seminar, and all things we are using to motivate/engage students. This will touch on using this process to engage students to learn are the L in Life. Does this make sense?

What does this have to do with how RtI supports LIFE?
Geraldine Webb-Harris
This is a semi-funny lead in to behavior. Chaney will tie this in to behaviors...

Lessons Learned

Do…...• Have a caring adult to connect with student (ex: Check-In - Check Out(CICO), Remind 101)

• Start the school day on a positive note…..(advisor/advisee, LIFE, mentoring, etc.)

• Have student-centered weekly PLT sessions

• Have a structured “smart lunch “ program

• Provide teachers with resources and support for implementing programs, ideas

• Step out of the box to engage the learner - “ you cannot teach’em until you reach’em
