Whit a multidisciplinary approach, Temix is able to propose solution for complex system in a wide range of applications with a "full turn-key" solution. The services can coming from the design idea to the prototype for single device or complete systems, but also up to the manufacturing start-up and the mass production. RF Design Capability Temix’s Antenna and RF Design staff has more than a decade of proven experience develops analogue circuits for RF and microwave applications, they can provide customized solutions that are at the forefront of technology. Temix staff is not only experienced in providing outstanding RF designs, but is also competent in the other components of a communication system, such as baseband processing, antennas and the propagation medium. This allows us to provide the best solution, both in terms of performances and cost. Combining the most advanced design tools with our in-house prototyping, testing and production facilities, Temix provides the full range of engineering services from concept evaluation, initial design and prototyping up to complete manufacture of the final product. The Wireless team is deeply involved in the developing of many projects based on latest generation wireless standards such as IEEE802.15.4 ZigBe, IEEE 802.11xx WiFi, ETSI300 652 HiperLAN, ETS 300 836 HiperLAN/2, IEEE 802.16x WiMAX, and at the moment are working on R&D in IEEE 802.13 UWB, ETSI Hiperlink and IEEE 802.20 MoFi preliminary studies. R&D Temix's R&D is a multi-disciplinary Research and Development team that is quite different from its competitors. It offers customers much more than just Antenna, Microwave and RF Design expertise. By leveraging the knowledge of other departments, it is able to provide customers with a complete solution from baseband processing right up to the RF front-end. At Temix, R&D knowledge is our most valuable asset. We are constantly building on our technology know-how. This leading-edge technology innovation is further consolidated through participation in research activities funded by the European Commission (EC).

SATCOM The Satcom division holds all the main skills in the designing and development of Satellite Communication Systems, with a wide range of expertise in RF and Microwaves, it is involved in designing, manufacturing and commissioning of large and medium size ESA, VSAT, Flyaway and Vehicle mounted SNG, using cost-effective solutions for Broadcasters, Carriers, Service Providers, Industries and the Army, integrating various kinds of technology, available on the market as well as developed by Temix. Temix is a world-leading supplier of mobile satellite communication systems enabling services for broadband applications. It is able to deliver complex Satellite turn-key projects and elegant solutions, with compact and quickly-on-air satellite terminals for live transmission of video, data, internet and voice contents from anywhere in the world, for government and commercial customers on time and on budget. AUTOMATION

Since its foundation Temix was involved in the development of innovative Smart Wireless Solution for remote sensing and data acquisitions. Temix’s design approach take in consideration all the technologies available to finalize a Smart Remote Sensing Platform totally integrated with all communication systems (like ZigBee, WiFi, GSM/GPRS, UMTS, Orbcom, Thuraya, BGAN, WiMAX and GEO Satellite). From the beginning and during the last six years Temix has applied this approach developing various data acquisition and remote control systems, the most relevant industrial application regard the design and deployment of an AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) project for collecting data from GAS meters and tanks for GPL. The first project started in 2003 in cooperation with Vodafone and was developed for Energas SpA, an Italian Q8 company, it represent the start point of Temix’s AMR experience in this field. In this project Temix has designed and developed all the components of the system, from the wireless meter device to the managing, storage and billing software. After a success evaluation period on the field, the customer (Energas) has decided to deploy Temix AMR system on a wide number of meters and tanks (more then 25.000) over the full territory of Italy. Today Temix leading the most important deployment of AMR system in Italy and one of the most relevant in Europe, with more than 180.000 meter units delivered up to 2008, and with more than 15.000 units deployed since 2004. During the last six years Temix has reinforced its commitment in R&D and updating of the Smart Meter Reading Platform, especially with the introduction and evolution of the new devices and extending the application also on water distribution networks and meters. During this period it has consolidated important references in many success trial projects with the most important Italian utilities and municipality, some of these most representatives projects are follow:

ENERGAS Q8 – Deployment of 25.000 Propane GAS meters and tanks, since 2003. ASM Brescia (now A2A) – Integrated trial project for GAS and Water full system. Eutile & AEM Milano – Trial project for Propane GAS Metering and tank control, also

experimental project for real-time GAS metering with new generation of electronic metering for delivery warm managing service.

TELEREADING – Since 2007 Telereading, Italian AMR service provider, choose Temix AMR platform to delivery metering lease service to municipality and utility. Telereading has signed an agreement with Temix for delivery of 100.000 meters device and 10.000 gateway within 2007.

AMAP Palermo – Starting in 2007 with a trial project for water metering, it proceed in 2008 with the definitive deployment for the coverage of industrial customers meters.

AMAM Messina – Trial Project for water metering. ITALGAS – ENI Group – Starting in 2010 with a trial gas project in Rome for 500 meters and it is

actually under evaluation. Iran Microsystem Reasearch – Starting in 2010 a cooperation with Iran Microsystem it is

involved in the qualification and introduction of Temix platform to INGC (Iranian National Gas Company) and to the other subsidiary Gas companies as also other companies in the water distribution field.

From the industrial point of view, Temix participate actively with its experience, skills and technical capability to the standardization and regulation process of the sector, in cooperation with the most relevant technological players involved in this field, ATMEL, as Texas, SIEMENS-Cinterion, and TELIT. At the same time Temix works in cooperation with the most relevant Italian meters manufacturer, in order to support the integration of smart wireless reading technology on the new generation of standard electronics meters for GAS and Water.

Ku Band Antenna System for VECTORSAT Project TRENITALIA

 

 

 

Through a program of industrial cooperation, Temix has developed and implemented the microwave antenna that equips the new ETR 500 Eurostar Trenitalia. With this project, led by Trenitalia, Alenia Spazio, Centro Ricerche RAI and prestigious Italian universities, was made the connection to the broadband internet on trains. The antenna was designed and built at the laboratories of Catania Temix using the most advanced CAD design technology and advanced composite materials (carbon fiber). The system has already been validated by the final customer Trenitalia and the antennas are currently in service on trains Eurostar.

POLLUCE Project - CIRA

    

Through the collaboration with Techno-System, company that specializes in the design of electronic equipment and acquisition of logic-board avionics and space applications, Temix participated in the program 's ESA (European Space Agency) and the CIRA for UPS Europe. The program includes the development of an unmanned space missions to return to land and recovery of the shuttle. Development is currently in phase 1 prototype / demonstrator and first flight was made in January 2007 with positive results. Temix has participated in this phase of the program by providing engineering services for the part edge communications-satellite-earth, and in particular verify and validate the link budget in all conditions of trim of the aircraft. For part test bench set-up and final S-band radio communication system, and finally with regard to the thermal and structural analysis of the control and release that accompanied the aircraft at an altitude of 40,000 feet before being released .

WIND-SHEAR System - ENAV

 

 

Through the cooperation with Vitrociset, Temix has designed, validated and implemented an innovative wireless sensor network that allowed the activation of the system "Shear Wind" at the Genoa airport. The "Wind Shear" enables the protection of the slopes near the sea, making a prediction of the probability of the phenomenon of "Wind Shear" during landing and take-off, the system consists of a computer job at the control tower and a network of sensors placed around the airport acquisition. Vitrociset had encountered problems in implementing the network of sensors with a negative impact on the project and the relationship with the ENAV, which is responsible for safety of health care systems on the fly. Temix led Vitrociset in identifying the most appropriate technology for this purpose, supporting the technical validation and then the theoretical field to the ENAV. The success of this project has enhanced the industrial partnership with Temix.

Exemplary School Project

A project to implement new technologies for teaching

The “ICT for Exemplary school future education Libya tomorrow”

Provide all schools Libya with an integrated e-learning platform, to start the process of literacy of the school-age population and overcome the technological-cultural gap of the country. This is the aim of the “ICT for Exemplary school future education Libya tomorrow” project, promoted by the non-governmental organization “Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation” chaired by Saif Al Islam, the son of head of state Muammar Gaddafi, in collaboration with the Sicilian company “Temix”, with the Dutch consortium DCVI, each one for its competency area, and with the participation of ENI North Africa BV Libyan Branch. In particular, the Qaddafi Foundation has promoted the project for its own aim of social development, Temix has developed the technology platform that will enable all the schools in Libya to be networked, DCVI will provide the tecnology solutions for implementing the smart classroom and the software for didactics.

The first three smart classrooms are about to start After over a year of contacts and after signing, in May 2009, a Protocol of Intents between the Gaddafi Foundation and Temix, Tuesday November 3rd at 11am at the As Baha El Sobho school in Tripoli, the project will be presented and demonstrated with the first three smart classrooms, in the presence of President Gaddafi Saif Al Islam and various Ministers. These "smart classrooms" will help to develop the virtual education system in the country, through tools such as electronic whiteboards, high-quality videoconferencing, collaborative work, virtual labs, and school TV. For the first experimental classroom networking, three Libyan towns far from each other and with different geo-morphological characteristics were chosen: Tripoli, Al Beyda and Zwara, to immediately demonstrate that the technological platform developed is able to overcome geographical obstacles and inadequate infrastructures of the country. The first two, Tripoli and Bayda, are big towns, while Zwara is a town located on the border with Tunisia where there are no telecommunication networks and broadband connection can be achieved only through satellite systems. Within 5 years, in different stages, this project will connect together, over four thousand six hundred schools in the country to provide a basic education to about one million students between six and eighteen years old. An e-learning technological platform Through an integrated telecommunications infrastructure developed by Temix, it will be possible to use any technology to connect schools together; ADSL in big towns where such service is available, WiMax for suburban areas such as rural centers where there is no broadband network but there is a telecommunications Station, finally the satellite communication systems to reach very peripheral areas, like on the border with the desert, where large broadband services have not yet arrived. Services Teachers and students will be able to take advantage of the more advanced information technology (IT) services, including high-quality videoconferencing, tele-presence, a high resolution connection which gives the perception of the presence fo the interlocutor, thanks to natural size of the images shown on 50 inches screens and thanks to their high-fedelity audio performance. The use of videoconferencing in the classrooms, will help to standardize the curriculums, enhance learning and ensure high standards of preparation in all Libyan schools, even those schools cut off from education due to infrastructural and logistics problems and lack of teaching staff. Moreover, through the electronic whiteboard, a single teacher can reach several schools in the country and teach, as if it were physically present in every single classroom. Within each class, with the possible presence of a tutor, the same students will be able to interact with the teacher and manage locally lessons. The Temix technology platform was designed to be used in an extremely simple and intuitive way by teachers and students without the necessary support of technicians or experts in ICT. Among other applications included in the technology platform there is the Collaborative Work which will allow teachers to manage didactics and share a document (evaluations of the students, retraining and other) even from miles away. It's also included another set of services called School TV, which is a common IP-TV that will provide each school with a closed loop channel to store student work like thesis, researches, but also tests, mini-documentaries and class news bullettins and to publish them on a national school network. School labs, wich represent the first step in Libya for learning and introduction to the world of work and for this reason they have a dominant role in the teaching, will also be computerized, . Finally, the possibility to follow experimental courses will encourage learning of science and technology and will help the ability of concentration of the pupils. These educational tools, along with intranet data and dedicated phone lines, will enable all students to have an adequate and uniform basic preparation, , and the few teachers will be able to handle the teaching from a single

centralized location, without having to move continuously. In this way they will be able to cover education in different schools and far apart. Armando Caravella declaration (Chief od Executive Office TEMIX SpA) Libya is undertaking a process of country modernization and the Gaddafi Foundation, engaged in social economic and cultural development projects, has asked us to study a telecommunications platform that would allow to overcome, in 15-20 years, the country cultural gap. This project, strongly willed by the Gaddafi Foundation, recognizes to education a central role in the development of Libya. In order to launch a comprehensive process of education of school-age children and to foster the fast learning of a job, a technology platform able to overcome geographical distances and differences in infrastructure between major towns and small rural center, was required. The biggest challenge was to combine the versatility of the technology designed as a hybrid network with high capacity (multimedia services that require bands which can exceed 2MBits) with the extreme simplicity of use of its applications. We did not want that the technology used to bridge the cultural gap could become a limit, so we have worked really hard to implement very intuitive interfaces and very affordable services, in order to make teachers and students able to interact without the support of expert technical staff. References: DCVI DCVI (Consortium of the Netherlands for the education and training) is a consortium of European companies specifically created to develop and implement projects for the update, reform and modernization of the education system in Libya. DCVI contributes to the development project of the education system in Libya through the latest technology, by the creation of smart classrooms at schools involved in the project Exemplary School, which Beida and Tripoli are the first demo application. The consortium provides thorough solutions for the development of smart classrooms, mixed learning environments where students can learn through interaction with teachers and use of integrated hardware and software applications. The education that takes place inside the "smart classrooms" includes the use of ICT tools, language laboratories and innovative equipment for learning arts, crafts and musical instruments. Within the project, DCVI will provide contents and the technical aspects relevant to didactics. ENI North Africa B.V. EasyLINK MESH System (ITCS) dual Band for mobile application for security application – Telespazio - Ministry of Defence (Italy) ITCS “INTEGRATED TACTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM”, is based on the consolidated EasyLINK’s Temix experience. It meets the requirements of rescue and civil defence applications, assuring reliable audio, video and data communications between the members of the field team and the remote command centre. ITCS is a powerful communication tool that provides a seamless, self-organizing ad-hoc networking with multi-hop routing capability, allowing a network-centric communication. ITCS forms a mobile ad-hoc wideband network provides voice, video, integrated GPS, and data transfer typically from 100 to 1500 kbps, across a range spanning 6 km. ITCS maintains voice/video/data communications within difficult environments such as tunnels, fast moving vehicles, buildings and vegetation.
