Control Center Chain Level Content Management To improve efficiency and allow governance and centralized control of data for chains, we are adding new methods of content management to the SynXis CRS. All chains of any size can benefit from a new concept – the content strategy. The strategy determines how users manage and display data. Available options are:

Strategy Description Hierarchal First Match

The system looks for data at the hotel level. If no data exists, then it loads at the chain level. If no chain level data exists, it loads at the system level. This is similar to the process for customer titles and the label objects. This model is useful when only a single item needs to be selected, like a label.

Cross-Product Hotel + Chain – The system loads a combined list of both the hotel and chain level content. When the object displays, the list includes hotel and chain level data. Users configure the data sets separately, but use the data as a combined list.

Chain Only Users can configure the content only at the chain level. This applies for content that applies only at the chain level, either by design or by choice. Chains can determine that their content strategy for a specific object is to support only a specific type of content at the chain level. In addition, there are objects, such as loyalty programs, that are supported at the chain level.

Hotel Assigned Users can build content at the chain level and individually assigned to the hotel.

Hotel Assigned with Hotel Level Content

Users can build content at the chain level and individually assign it to the hotel. They can also create hotel level only content.

Hotel Only Users cannot select this as a content strategy by default. However, if we support chain level selection of their content strategy, they can select that the content only applies at the hotel level.

Authorized users can assign the strategy via Administration > Chain > Chain Maintenance:

To allow the most flexibility and control managing data elements, content strategies can be set differently by page. The content strategy can be altered if the needs of the chain evolve over time and the approach to data changes in the future. With the release, a recommended default strategy will be set for each data element; however, chain information will not be active until it is populated for the individual data element type.

Any user with chain level user access will have the ability to add/modify and delete chain level content.

With the implementation of Chain level Room and Rate Categories, the ability to apply chain level stay restrictions is available via the SynXis CRS.

The new chain level content items will display in all applicable reports with the release.

Chain Level Channel Management For added efficiency and chain control, authorized users can assign channels at the chain level. This is managed on the Chain Maintenance page (Administration > Chain > Chain Maintenance).

When there are channels defined at chain level, a hotel can only be assigned channels from the chain level list. When the chain defines channels at chain level, an indicator displays in the Setup > Property > Property Info > Basics page, as well as in the Administration > Hotel > Hotel Maintenance page.

Package Policies Update For added efficiency in managing user access to policies, we moved Package policies to its own page in Control Center (Set up > Property > Policies > Package Policies). Hotel Administrators can now control user access level to Package policies separate from Guarantee and Cancel policies within User Access (Administration > User > User Access). Package policies are managed in the same manner as existing functionality. Users can edit/view/delete/add Package Cancel and Guarantee policies according to the policy presented on Policy Type drop down.

The Package Policy assignment continues to be managed within the Package Item Details (Setup > Property > Package Setup and then Package Categories – Package Items).

Book without a Payment Method To allow more flexibility in specific market segments where credit card usage is not prevalent, users can now enable booking without a payment method in the Guest Connect and Mobile booking engine channels. To fully support this, we changed the following pages:

• Guarantee Policies (Setup > Property > Policies > Guarantee Policies) • Package Policies page (Setup > Property > Policies > Package Policies) • Template Set up (Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Template Setup) • Label Set up (Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Label Setup - Customer Information Page)

To allow designation on a policy that allows Guest Connect and/or Mobile booking engine to book without a payment method, we added an attribute to the Guarantee/Deposit policy codes area:

Within the Template Setup page (Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Template Setup - Customer Information Placeholder), hotels and chains can choose either of the following options when the selected rate’s Guarantee policy allows for booking without a payment type:

• Show dropdown (default) • Show message, hide dropdown • Show message and dropdown

Hotels can configure a localized message that displays under the Payment Information area on the Guest Information page. The message informs guests when the rate’s Guarantee policy does not require a payment selection. Setup is via the Label Setup page (Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Label Setup - Customer Information) under the label: payment_not_required. The default verbiage is “This reservation does not require that you select a payment method.”

If a package is being booked, both the rate and the package policy's attribute must coincide to allow the booking without a payment selection. If either policy differs, the guest must select a valid payment method to book the reservation.

If the guest chooses a different rate and/or package when modifying a reservation, the ability to choose the payment depends on the Guarantee policy availability of the new rate and/or package selected.

Hoteliers should understand that both the rate and the package policy attributes are checked.

• With itineraries bookings, some reservations can require payment and some do not, as it depends on the policy set on the rates used in the itinerary. For multiple reservation checkouts where there is a single payment method selection, the ability to book without a payment selection is dependent on the Guarantee policies for each rate and package in the itinerary allowing it.

• Email variables, Reports, and the Reservation Details page in Control Center support that no payment type was selected for the reservation.

Loyalty Program Management To further enhance profiles within the SynXis CRS and fully support management of loyalty programs, we are adding the ability to assign loyalty numbers with expiration dates to both guest profiles and booker profiles.

The member number displays within Voice Agent, Guest Connect, and the Mobile booking engine channels. Furthermore, we are adding member details (loyalty program code, member number, level code, and expiration date) for the booker to reservation interfaces (both reservation delivery and reservation synchronization).

To ensure control and management of the loyalty program by the hotel or chain, we are adding the ability to flag a loyalty program as “managed.” This flag determines if consumers booking via Guest Connect or the Mobile booking engine can enter or update their loyalty program number when editing their profile.

Activate within Administration > Chain > Loyalty Programs.

We are adding new variables for usage in email confirmations to support the new fields: • Within Guest variables – Expiration date: %LoyaltyProgramExpDate% • Within Booker Profile variables – A new variable called %TaLoyaltyPrograms% that includes the

following: o Number: %TaLoyaltyProgramNumber%

o Program: %TaLoyaltyProgramName%

o Level: %TaLoyaltyLevel%

• Expiration date: %TaLoyaltyProgramExpDate%. This variable acts like the %Reservations% variable in Itinerary Confirmation templates, where the data is repeated for each individual item.

For reservations with Booker Profile payment details, the booker’s payment details are not included in the guest emails to ensure PCI compliance.

This functionality will not be available to integrated customers until support has been added to the PMS’s interface and certification has been completed. For customers using Opera, this functionality will not be available until certification with Opera has been completed.

Multi–Rate Bookings Users can now book reservations with more than one rate plan in the Voice Agent product. This functionality must be activated by the Account Manager through two new attributes at Administration> Hotel > Hotel Maintenance:

• Allow Multi–Rate Plan Booking • Allow Multi-Rate Plan Group Bookings

Multi-Rate Plan Group Bookings cannot be turned on without enabling Multi-Rate Plan Booking. Disabling Multi-Rate Plan Booking will turn off Multi-Rate Plan Group Bookings.

The default value with the release is “Unselected.” (The functionality is not active.) The ability to book multi-room reservations is supported in Voice Agent, Channel Connect, and Reservation Synchronization interfaces. No other channels are affected by this functionality.

In Voice Agent, users can now select rate plans per day on the Multi Rate tab, in the Rate Selection table. The rate selected in the availability results is the primary rate plan of the reservation.

The following settings apply to the reservation according to the primary rate plan: • Guarantee policy • Cancellation policy • Rate Hurdles: If the parent rate is subject to the hurdle, then the entire stay is subject to the hurdle • Rate Hurdle Adjust: Applies to the entire stay from the primary rate • Market Segment • Market Source • Promotional Pricing Rules

The secondary rate plan does not display in the Rate Selection window if the following stay restrictions apply on any date during the stay:

• No Arrival • No Departure • Min Stay Arrival • Max Stay Arrival • Full Pattern Length of Stay (FPLOS)

The following stay restrictions only restrict the display of the secondary rate plan on the dates they apply: • Sell Limit • Sell Threshold • Closed • Min Lead Days • Max Lead Days • Min Sell Date

The CRS allows the rate plans of the same currency to be booked together. Commissionable and non-commissionable rate plans on the same booking are also supported.

The commission policy applied to a multi-rate booking follows the same logic of the existing “Commission policy to be used when multiple apply” functionality under Hotel Maintenance. The functionality allows hotels to choose from four options as follows:

• Lowest (Default) – Displays the lowest Commission Percentage for the stay dates • Arrival date

o Displays the Commission Percentage applicable on the day of arrival o When there is no Commission policy or Default percentage configured for day of arrival, no

Commission Percentage displays in the GDS or Voice Agent system and no percentage stores with the reservation

• Departure date o Displays the Commission Percentage applicable on the day of departure o When there is no Commission policy or Default percentage configured for day of departure, no

Commission Percentage displays in the GDS or Voice Agent system and no percentage stores with the reservation

• Highest – Displays the highest Commission Percentage for the stay dates

The new email variable, %RateDateList%, supports the display of the rate name by day on the email templates.

If Multi-Rate Plan Bookings is enabled, multi-rate reservations are transmitted to and accepted from the PMS for integrated customers.

This functionality will not be available to integrated customers until support has been added to the PMS’s interface and certification has been completed. For customers using Opera, this functionality will not be available until certification with Opera has been completed. Not all OTAs can support this functionality. Further development work and certification may be required.

Page Removal The SynXis CRS continues to evolve, and thus we are removing items that are no longer utilized to support existing products or services. As a result, we have made changes in the following areas:

Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Tracking

We removed this page as it was used to manage the retired HTML and Flash versions of the booking engine.

Continue to manage the control of Guest Connect Booking Engine configuration and attributes through the existing functionality on the Template Setup page (Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Template Setup).

Setup > Messages > General > Messages There were duplicate fields within the system to manage the same data. For efficiency, we removed the following messages:

• GDS Booking Response • GDS Seamless Response Message • GDS Marketing Messages

Users can manage the Booking response and Seamless response messages at Setup > Channels > GDS > Marketing Messages.

Field Removals Sabre Hospitality Solutions uses the Next Generation Seamless booking interface which shops the SynXis CRS in real-time and eliminates the need for rates to be stored locally in the GDSs.

As a result, many fields are no longer needed for configuration on the user interface and will be removed from Control Center as follows:

“Type” column Setup > Channels > GDS > Rate Translations Setup >Channels > GDS > Global Corporations Setup > Rates > GDS/IDS Viewership

The “Type” column with “N” and “X” designations for Sabre GDS Negotiated rate mappings no longer display.

Guest Connect Guest Connect Flex – New Booking Path This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template. System Administrators activate the Guest Connect Flex for the Asia Pacific Region via an attribute on the Chain Administration page (Administration > Chain > Chain Administration).

Guest Connect introduces additional functionality for the Flex Booking Engine Template booking engine to enable the regional booking path for the Asia Pacific consumer. The new template attributes will benefit:

• Hotels and chains in the Asia Pacific Region (especially Japan) • Hotels and chains outside the Asia Pacific Region that sell to consumers from this region • Hotels and chains currently using the Guest Connect Flex Template

The template offers the following new features: • Localized Availability Calendar options • Consumer options to book by Rate Plan or by Room Type • Option to change stay dates after Rate and Room selection directly from the Availability Results page • Ability to Register for Membership or create a New Profile without booking a room. Privacy Policies

can be displayed prior to the consumer creating a new account. • Image support for Rate Plans and Rate Plan packages • Package category filters

Guest Connect Flex Attributes This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template. Select the options within the Guest Connect Template Setup page (Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Template Setup).

Availability Criteria We have introduced enhancements to the Availability Calendar that include localized options for an easy understanding of the booking process with symbols and colors highlighting weekends and holidays.

• Symbols for Available Days and Restrictions • Color for Weekends and Holidays

Availability Results Guest Connect Flex will now support images for Rate Plans and Rate Plan packages with additional package category filtering, product sorting options for consumers shopping on the booking engine, and a monthly availability calendar displayed on each room record with activation of the new attributes:

• Display Rate Image Gallery • Display Product Monthly Avail Calendar • Enable Product Sorting Options • Additional Package Filters

Policies and Guests We now offer options for a consumer to Register for Membership or create a New Profile without booking a room. The main benefit of this functionality is the ability to capture profile data earlier when consumers are still in the research stage of the booking process. Privacy and Rate Policy placement increases consumer confidence in the booking process and supports hotels and chains marketing their hotels to different geographical regions. This enhancement presents consumers with the policies they must accept prior to filling out any personal information when creating a new profile.

Alternate Booking Path Japan is a large source of outbound travel to Southeast Asia, Australia, Korea, Hawaii, US, and Europe. Hotels located in and marketing to these regions (especially Japan) will benefit from this functionality.

System Administrators activate the use of Guest Connect Flex Asia Pacific booking path via an attribute on the Chain Administration page (Administration > Chain > Chain Administration).

Guest Connect Product Sorting Guest Connect now offers functionality for consumers to customize their preferred view of the availability results when shopping rate plan/room type combinations. Tabs allowing the preferred view of choice are available at the top of the Availability Results page. The default tabs are View by Rate and View by Room. If no selection is made, the Guest Connect Flex Booking Engine defaults to View by Rate Plan.

In addition, we have added the functionality for selecting the preferred method of viewing availability results to the Guest Connect Booking Widget (Teaser). A selection made on the hotel website will determine the view displayed upon entry into the Availability Results page.

Availability Calendar Additions This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template.

Enhancements to the Availability Calendar now include localized options for the Asia Pacific consumer that provide an easy understanding of the booking process through the availability of symbols and colors highlighting weekends and holidays.

When the functionality is active, the symbols display on the calendar showing “open” and “closed” where applicable and where X – closed and O – open.

Symbols display in the default colors when any of the additional stay restrictions apply to a date. These include:

• Max Stay • Min Stay • No Arrival • No Departure

The booking engine also offers color-coded weekends and holidays. The default colors on the booking engine for weekends are blue for Saturdays, Red for Sundays, and Orange for holidays.

System Administrators can set up specific holidays on the Events and Holidays page (Setup > Revenue Management > Events and Holidays).

Changes to Room and Rate Pages This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template.

To accommodate both native Asia Pacific and western consumer audiences, the booking engine allows consumers to view the availability results by either a Rate Plan/Room Type or Room Type/Rate Plan view. Multiple Rate images (photo gallery) are now supported and maintain the user experience when shopping on Guest Connect. This addition supports hotels and chains who sell by rate plan or rate plan packages without affecting usability.

Changes to Room Display

The availability results displays an icon on each of the room types that, when selected, allows the consumer to view a monthly availability calendar.

The calendar displays the availability of the specific room type and opens in a modal window, similar to how the image gallery displays. When selected, this option allows the consumer to pick their most auspicious days/dates for travel.

The calendar supports pricing, displays one month at a time and moves from the business date forward.

Multi-Images for Rates and Groups Multiple images for the Flex Booking Engine are now supported. The benefit of this enhancement is larger and higher image resolution support that adds to showcasing hotels and chain properties for both rates and groups.

Package Option Filters This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template. The functionality is available at chain and template level. Configure in the SynXis CRS at Setup > Property > Package Setup and Setup > Property > Package Setup within Package Categories. The default setting for current functionality; thus, no changes are active at release.

Guest Connect now offers Package Filter options that are displayed on the Availability Results page via a new field added to Control Center. When users click Add New Package at the top of the page in Control Center, a new mandatory “Code” field displays in the Package Category Details section. With the release, the system will update all Package Categories existing in the SynXis CRS with the mandatory code.

For existing configured package elements, a standard naming convention will be applied. For example, a hotel with four Package Categories now has pre-populated Codes of PC_1, PC_2, PC_3, and PC_4. The pre-populated Package Category Codes are editable.

We made an update to the Package Setup screen to match existing functionality with other Control Center pages. When users add new Package Categories, the “List of existing packages” no longer displays.

Guest Connect When active, the Package Filter options display on the Availability Results page so consumers can choose the types of packages they want to view during their booking process. The Packages Results Filter displays in the filters area and contains all the rate specific package categories assigned to the returned results.

This functionality only displays packages that are associated with rate plans.

Guest Registration without Booking a Room This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template. Configure the functionality in the SynXis CRS at Setup > Messages > General Messages using the Message Type - Booking Engine Privacy Policy. Consumers can now register and create a profile without booking a room. This enhancement supports the behavior of consumers and travel planners who are still in the research stage. It provides convenience that increases the likelihood of consumers returning to the booking engine when they make their booking decision.

When “New Account” is selected from the login link or guest information page, the consumer is required to accept the privacy policy prior to the creation of the account. On acceptance of the privacy policy, Guest Connect displays the New Profile fields.

The Booking Engine Privacy Policy message content is translatable and supports up to 4000 characters. This functionality is available on chain level only.

Additional Fields on Review Page and MyProfile This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template.

Guest Connect Flex can now capture additional information within reservations with new optional fields that capture the Gender, Birthday, Mobile Phone Number, and the Mobile email address of the consumer making a booking. Once the attributes are active, the fields are also available in the “MyProfile” form where consumers can provide or update their profile information.

• The gender field provides the option for male and female. • The Mobile eMail address field accommodates up to 120

characters including numbers and symbols; for example, dashes (-), periods (.), etc.

To support the configuration of the Guest Registration, we updated the following email templates with additional fields:

Attribute Management - Template Setup Page This functionality applies exclusively to the Flex Template. The functionality is available at chain and template level. Configure in the SynXis CRS at Setup > Channels > Booking Engine > Template Setup. Changes are active with the release.

As part of recent changes, we are moving the attributes from the Availability Criteria > Availability Criteria Placeholder page in Control Center to the Template Level for better management when setting up or managing an instance of the Flex template. Users configuring or managing a Flex Template will now see the attributes grouped under their respective headings on the main Template Setup page.

Guest Connect Mobile Mobile User Information Fields Consumers can now enter a mobile number and mobile email address on the Guest Information page on the Mobile booking engine. The field can benefit hotel customers utilizing our Internet Marketing Services (IMS) SMS platform.

Channelized Rate Descriptions The Mobile channel now supports channelized rate descriptions to allow hotels and chains to define their suitable rate descriptions for consumers shopping or booking on mobile devices. Voice Agent Percentage/Amount Adjust to Rate Override Activate by adding the SynXis CRS Access Point “Override Daily Rates” on the User Access page (Administration > User > User Access) in the Access Points Assignment section.

Create the Rate Override Reasons in the SynXis CRS at Setup > Channels > Voice Agent > Rate Override Reasons.

Call center agents can now specify an amount or percentage discount on a daily rate in Voice Agent. This allows hotels to grant “on the fly” discounts over a rate in special conditions.

Voice Agent users can use the daily rate override functionality to allow for percentage or amount of rate change, as well as for entering the final price for a date. After the discount is entered, Voice Agent displays the discount codes (when they have been created in Control Center).

The percentage/amount of rate change reflects in the reservation detail screen in Control Center and in the confirmation emails.

There are three different options within Voice Agent to set the Override price: • Per Day – This option displays the breakdown for each day of the stay and a blank box to fill in the

desired discount. On the next column, an override type can indicate if the value is a percentage or a fixed amount. The last column displays the total after the override has applied per each day of the stay.

On the lower right corner of the popup screen, the total stay amount after the override displays before the user confirms the changes.

Global Distribution Systems (GDS) Galileo Property Number Expansion Travelport GDS announced that effective October 17, 2012; they will enable assignment of alphanumeric property numbers to new properties in their RoomMaster database. Currently, they support only numeric values.

The SynXis CRS can accommodate this change. We conducted testing with Travelport to confirm there is no impact. Pegasus supports this today in UltraSwitch (USW); thus, no system changes are necessary.

Galileo and Worldspan Add Northstar Crown Ratings On September 18, 2012, Travelport enhanced hotel property content by incorporating Northstar Crown Ratings in Galileo and Worldspan. Northstar Travel Media provides Travelport with a listing of specific properties and the corresponding Northstar Crown Rating (the information does not come from each hotel company). The hotel descriptions are updated monthly by Travelport GDS (the information is not updated from the SynXis CRS). The Northstar Crown Ratings are in addition to the current AAA diamond property ratings. Travel agents now have the option to search based on the Northstar Crown Rating and/or the AAA diamond property rating.

Property Integration Transmission of Opt-In/Opt-Out Details A customer’s opt-in/opt-out details are transmitted to the PMS as part of the reservation delivery messaging. Furthermore, this information can be received and stored by the SynXis CRS through both the profile synchronization and reservation synchronization messaging. The logic is as follows:

• If a customer has not made an Opt-In/Opt-Out choice, no Opt-In/Opt-Out details are transmitted. • If a customer has Opted In, the messaging reflects this setting. • If a customer has Opted Out, the messaging reflects this setting.

With the exception of Opera, while the functionality has been added to the API, any vendors currently integrated to the SynXis CRS will need to update their interface to support the Opt-In / Opt-Out details.

Revenue Management “Yield As” for Yielded Rates SynXis now offers the capability to tie one rate to another for the purposes of yielding against a hurdle. This enables flexibility in keeping rates open or closed, as needed, in order to help hotels execute their revenue strategy. Users can tie yielded rates within the same hotel and with the same currency to another yielded rate on the Rate Configuration page (Setup > Rates > Rate Configuration). The system will then yield the tied rate with the rate to which it is tied, rather than as itself. For example, users can tie a corporate discounted

Availability by Channel The Availability by Channel report now returns a more accurate overview of availability by channel. The enhanced report will include both channel specific and channel independent restrictions within its results. The report displays the most restrictive value (independent or specific), and always includes the following primary channels:

• Google • Mobile • Booking Engine/Guest Connect • Voice Agent

• Reservation Synchronization • IDS • GDS

Room Types As part of the chain level functionality added in this release, the Room Types report will display a visual indicator to cue chain level configurations for room features, room categories, and room type details.
