T he Texas Rangers continue to be one of the most exciting teams to watch in all of baseball. As of the final home game in the month of May, the team ranked first

in Major League Baseball with 5.89 runs scored per game. The last time the Rangers averaged more than five runs per game in a season (2011), they went to the World Series. The team also ranked fourth in MLB in batting average and fourth in home runs per game. Adding to all of that excitement, they play their most exciting baseball at home. The Rangers have won every three-game series they have played at Globe Life Park.

The month of May was filled with memorable moments. The team began the month with a series win versus the Toronto Blue Jays, then followed that up with series wins vs. the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. The final homestand of the month was capped off by a three-game sweep of the division rival, Seattle Mariners.

The Rangers lineup continues to be led by hard-hitting outfielder and MVP candidate, Joey Gallo. While Joey has been the most consistent since the beginning, the month of May saw several newcomers light up the Arlington sky with fireworks. Infielders Logan Forsythe and Danny Santana, both of whom were late offseason additions, have thrived in Texas. Both players are hitting well over .300 and have become mainstays in the Rangers’ lethal lineup. In addition to Logan and Danny, outfielder Hunter Pence is also playing at an All-Star level. He already has double-digit home runs on the season. According to Texas Rangers radio broadcaster Jared Sandler, Hunter is one of only 18 active MLB players to hit 10 or more home runs 11 times in his career.

The pitching staff continues to be led by Rangers’ ace, Mike Minor. Mike is fifth in the American League in ERA, and has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season. Ariel Jurado has also emerged as an effective option for Manager Chris Woodward.
