Whenthecardholdertapsacardontothereaderembeddedatthegate,thereaderprocessesthecardandtransmitsthedatatotheterminal.Transactiondataisthentransmittedtothegatecontroller.

DatawillthenberoutedtothebackofficehostwhererequiredinformationwillberecordedbyKLIAEkspres.Oncethebackofficehostreceivesthedata,anduponsuccessfulstorageofdata-'opengate'messagewillbesenttothegatecontrollertoallowaccessforthepassenger.

Asettlementwillthenbeconductedatapre-determinedtimeeveryday.

InThailand,RoadAccidentVictimsProtectionLtd(RVP)wassetuptofacilitatepaymentstoroadaccidentvictimsandisownedcollectivelyby62non-lifeinsurancecompaniesinThailand.

Untilrecently,carownersregisteredtheircarsthetraditionalwayoffillingupapaperformandrelyingontheiragentstosubmittheapplicationtoRVP’sdatabase.Theproblemwiththismethod:unscrupulousagentswillissue‘delayed’submissionofvalidapplicationstoavoidacutofftheirpremiumstoRVP.Consequentlywhenaccidentsdohappen,theapplicant’sinformationisnotfoundregisteredinthedatabase,hencenoclaimscouldbepaidouttobonafidevictims.

Initsdoubleedgedsolution,GHLThailanddeployedtheterminals(portableandcountertops)toover1500insuranceagentsandcreatedacustomizedapplicationwherebycarownersareabletokeyintheirinformationviatheterminals(inreal-timeThaicharacters),payupandprinttheregistrationslipsonspecializedpaper.

ThetransactionandinformationisthenroutedtoRVPnetworkwhichhasahostatitsacquiringbank-KBank.ApplicantsareassuredthattheirpolicyisverifiedandregisteredintheRVP’sdatabasewhileinsurancecompaniesareassuredoftheirrightfulfeesfromtheagents.
