Background

• Replacement of ISO2709 format with XML for INIS Atomindex distribution

• Recommendation of the 11th JTCM to continue the existing plans for XML implementation

• Consultations with the ILOs on adoption of a suitable XML structure


Status

• AtomIndex distributed in XML format as of January 2009

• DTD is published on the INIS FTP server

• Entire Atomindex in new XML format available


Impacts

• AI in ISO2709 exchange format will be available until June 2010

• Use of the XML format for producing INIS DB on DVD as of 2010


Actions

• Get feedback on the current XML implementation and address possible issues

• Discontinue publishing products using ISO2709 (Atomindex, 2-issue-file, Journals Authority update)

• Introduce XML format for input preparation and INIS data processing
