Council of Catholic Women
Join us the third Tuesday of each month for Mass at 7:00 P.M., followed by a 7:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.
Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when some-one wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.
Marriages
Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.
Ministrations to the Sick
We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.
SURPRISES
Life is full of surprises, some pleasant, some not. The scriptures are filled with stories of God's surprises cropping up when they are least expected: younger children obtaining the inheritance; the lowliest being seated highest up; an itinerant preacher, killed like a criminal, exalted to eternal, heavenly glory. Anybody who has planned a wed-ding or similar event knows that they are filled with opportunities for surprises. For the bridegroom in today's Gospel story, who has no direct contact with Jesus, the pleasant surprise came because some-body else paid attention and had faith in Jesus. We may think that the point of today's familiar story of the wedding at Cana is that when we have faith in Jesus, our lives will be pleasantly changed. A Christian, however, needs to have a broader perspective and realize that to have faith in Christ means that somebody's life--not neces-sarily our own--will be surprised for the better.
As a bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so God rejoices in the chosen Zion and Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:1-5).
Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations (Psalm 96).
All the varied gifts and talents found in the Christian community are products of the same Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
At a wedding festival in Cana, Jesus changes water into wine at his mother's request (John 2:1-11).
