Food Bank

The urgent needs this week are: small sugar, tinned

soup, tinned fruit, jam (not homemade), UHT fruit juice,

small cereal and coffee.

Mass Book Dedications

Thank you for the dedications received so far, the

labels will be prepared in the next couple of weeks for

insertion in the new Mass books. It’s not too late if you

would like to dedicate a book just complete one of the

slips from the table at the back of Church, add the £2 per

book and hand it in to (me) Pat or leave in the Presbytery.

Parish Admin Support

We require the help of someone with office and

bookkeeping experience to support the parish as we

move forward. The present arrangements, put in place

as a temporary measure when Fr Aelred left, are not

sustainable in the long term.

If you have the relevant experience and are

willing to devote some of your time on a weekly basis,

please contact Fr Ed (Tel 692083) or Willie Slavin (Tel

65856) to seek further information.

Strawberry Tea Today is the Strawberry Tea so here’s hoping for

a sunny day. Don’t forget to hand in your quiz sheets today – in the event of more than one of you getting the

answers all right we will put the names together and choose one at random.

All proceeds are for our Church funds.

St Mary’s School Charity Coffee Morning

The coffee morning will be on Tuesday 15th July from

9.00am and everyone is invited to go along. There will be

refreshments, a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses

and other fund raising stalls. The proceeds are for Macmillan

Cancer Care and a school in Ghana where one of our

staff will be working as a volunteer during the summer.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament & Novena

We will be having a short service on Friday 1

August to pray for Father Aelred who will have

been away from our parish for 12 months. More

details next week.

Church Railings

We are intending to have the metal railings at the front of

Church replaced as they are in a poor state of repair, with some

having had to be removed as they were in danger of falling down. We

are looking for anyone who could rebuild the pillar, which was

demolished some time ago, so that the end railing has something to

be attached to. We would provide the bricks and concrete if they

could, out of the goodness of their heart, for the good of the Church,

provide the labour. Do you have a family member who could help?

Fund Raising for Hospice at Home West Cumbria

Kirsty Rowell will be taking part in the Great North Run to

raise funds for Hospice at Home West Cumbria on Sunday

7th September. She will be at the back of Church after

Mass today if anyone would like to sponsor her.

Apostleship of the Sea

Today’s second collection is our opportunity

to support their work and to pray for all

those who live and work at sea. Without

seafarers we would not have most of the items we

use in our everyday lives. Please remember them

today, Sea Sunday.

CONFIRMATION: The topic for the next session

on Wednesday 16th

July is “Mary - Who is she?”
