Page 1: SOUTHPORT's spring flower show

SOUTHPORT’S annual Spring Flower Show will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this weekend at the

Botanic Garden’s Banqueting Hall.

Along with the hundreds of floral exhibits on display, there will be a variety of competitions open for

everyone of any ability to compete in from flower arrangements to cake baking.

In a statement from the Southport Chrysanthemum and Gardening Society, they said: “This will be a

comparatively rare opportunity to view so many different varieties of Daffodils together, most of

which will be labelled, so you can take notes for your own garden.”

The society will have a variety of special craft classes, including egg decorating, Easter bonnet

making and creating greetings cards.

Submission deadlines for floral arrangements are 48 hours before the day of the show.

Themes for this are; Inspired by Nature, Caves and Contraband, Under the Sea and Through the

Garden Gate.

Deadlines for all other submissions are 10am on Saturday 26 March.

Competitions are open to members, children under 18 and anyone who has not previously exhibited

their work.

The show is open for two days; Saturday from 1.30-5pm and Sunday from 10am-5pm.

Entry fees are 30p each and admission is 50p or free for children.
