Sample Fare Calculation
• Commuting 30 miles from home to work
• Gas is $3.50 per gallon
• 9-passenger van with 8 paying riders
• Working 5 days per week
Riders pay $23 per week!

Driver Requirements
• Must be 25 years old
• With a valid driver’s license—no CDL required
• Have a good driving record
– No more than 3 moving violations in 3 years

Driver Responsibilities
• Be the contact for Valley Metro/vRide
• Keep the van clean and fueled
• Collect fares and make monthly payments
• Submit monthly vanpool report
• Schedule maintenance when due
• Establish vanpool group “set of rules” if needed
• Be the primary vanpool driver

• Free commute
• Up to 300 miles personal use of the van per month (except for fuel)
• Personal mileage = actual miles – contracted miles

Held from October 5-11. Employers are asked to encourage their employees
to get involved and commit to using an alternative mode at least once during
the week.
Four size groups:
• Small – 50-250
• Medium – 251-500
• Large – 501-1,500
• X-Large – 1,501+
The more your employees participate, the better your chances to win in your
size category.
• Results will be viewable at all times
• Category winners can win prizes and proclaim that they are the Employer
Challenge Champions for 2014!
The Challenge Module

– Your company must have a custom sub-site (CSS) . Request your
www.ShareTheRide.com CSS by September 12. Contact your Commute
Solutions representative at 602.262.RIDE (7433) to learn more.
– Your employees must be registered users of ShareTheRide.com.
– The CSS tool will allow you to create your company team name for the Challenge
and view logged commute trips.
– Register your team on ShareTheRide.com by September 24. No new teams or
team members will be accepted after the final date for registration.
– Team members must join by September 30.
– Create your team & invite others to join by clicking on the My Team Status tab.
– Remind employees to track their trips each day during the Employer Challenge
week - October 5-11.
– At the Commuter Challenge area, click on the Team Status tab to monitor
progress.
– The deadline for registered users to log their trips to the Commute Calendar is
October 31.

• Log in or create your account.
• Select Commuter Challenge.
• Find your employer’s team by selecting Challenge Standings.
• If you don’t see your employer listed, contact your Transportation
Coordinator or call Valley Metro Commute Solutions at 602.262.RIDE
(7433).
• Track your commute trips each day using the My Trip Tracker tab.
• See all the rules by selecting Instructions/Rules.
