The Great Barrier Reef is, in fact, the largest coral reef system in the world comprised of 2900 individual reefs.

Many species of animals are excluse to the reef.

A hot tourist attraction due to the large biodiversity the area offers.

Costs?

Scuba Diving the great barrier reef with tourist companies often cost anywhere between $600-$1000 due to scuba training costs and tours. If you are looking to go without a tourist company, it is often closer to $100-200 for diving equipment. But do not let a heavy price deter you if you are looking for a fun vacation! The entire underwater environment is lit up by sunlight and the water is crystal clear!
