    Prima Power has gathered experience in the develop-ment of turret punch presses since early 1980's,and while modern solutions are very different andthe level much has, the targets have remained con-stant: always more ease of operation and higherproductivity.

    A modern turret punch press uses numerically con-trolled, servo-electric axes, which provides outstand-

    ing energy efficiency, low maintenance requirementand a high speed of operation. The cornerstonesof its productivity include large tool capacity, thewide range of tools available and easy and fastset-up change. Forming and other auxiliary workstages, and ease of use are further factors reducingthe manufacturing cost per component thus makingthe turret punch press a productive and competitivemanufacturing solution.

    Prima Power is bold enough to name the new machineseries Genius because it is extensively based onour customers' experience and wishes. We wantedto fulfill these expectations with Punch Genius, acompact machine with a small footprint, offeringproductivity, operation convenience and compati-bility with a number of automation solutions.

    Two performance levels

    The new Genius series has models on two comple-mentary performance levels. meets all the tar-gets set for an attractively priced, yet efficient pro-duction machine; offers the best produc-tivity and performance in the market. Both modelscome with the latest features and can be equippedwith the whole range of options.

  • AccessibleGenius is operated with a modern control unit and itstouch screen panel. Management of machine set-up andwork queues is easy with the Tulus® user interface. TheNC Express™ programming system and Tulus® work inperfect combination, provide comprehensive reports onmachine and production status, and can be linked to thefactory ERP system when required. Special attention hasbeen paid to ergonomics and user friendliness of thecontrol unit.

    A new bar code reader can be used to choose programsfor the machine direct from a bar code on the work order.

    To make the operator's work easier, a new Android-basedTulus® MUPS application has been developed. It providesinstructions for tool set-ups and other operation tasks.

    Manual loading and unloading is facilitated by a movabletable top which can be locked in different positions.Thus even the smallest sheets can be handled close tothe operator. The loading of heavy sheets is made easy withvertically moving sheet supports.

    Machine tables have been redesigned and equipped withmore dense brushes, which together with the more solidtable frame enable handling of sheets up to 250 kg in weight.

    Clamp position is programmable for maximum sheet utili-zation and the position is changed automatically with thePCS function.

    Genius can be equipped with three clamps, which can bemoved automatically and individually to a new position dur-ing program run to maximize sheet utilization withoutrepositioning.

  • Further options include the servo operated tapping unitTU6, automatic labelling device and Inkjet marking device.

    The high-precision, servo-electric, indexable upformingcylinder provides 200 kN of forming power for speedymaking of even high and complicated forms.

    A new option is the Intelligent Ram which shortens toolchange time and increases the number of tools in turret andespecially that of index tools

    Up to 300 kN servo-electric punching force can be selectedfor the ram. Automatic overload protection and centrallubrication ensure dependable machine operation.

    A new feature is having moving brushes also in front andinside of the turret, which prevents effectively the scratch-ing of sensitive materials. The movement is activatedby the program when needed.

    Tooling can be flexibly selected as required by the applica-tion. Up to 384 standard or 128 index tools can be simul-taneously available in the turret. More value can be addedto the end product by using special tools such as tapping,bending, marking and forming tools. 16 and 20 hole tur-rets are available.

    The set-up of all punching, forming and special tools iseasy using the graphical tool library of theTulus® operatingsystem. Automatic tool lubrication system and vacuumassisted scrap removal are available as options.

  • The work chute for punched components is sized 500 mmx 500 mm. Component removal is assisted by a new airblow unit. Options that can be added after the work chuteare component identification system,component conveyorand sorting unit SU6.

    LST loading and stacking system can be chosen for auto-matic loading, component picking and stacking to pro-grammed coordinates in the palletizing area.

    Flexible automation

    Loading and unloading can be automated with CompactExpress equipment. New features include scratch-freesheet escort during unloading and remote control of thedoor. Moving upper frame beam and optimal placementof the safety equipment reset button are convenient whenloading or unloading using a forklift.

    Sorting unit SU6 is a device that moves three EUR palletswith a chain construction. EUR pallet can have collars or itis possible to use with boxes.

    The unit is used to sort parts coming from the work chuteof the machine directly to pallets. SU is a perfect low-costsolution for small part sorting automation.

    Sorting unit SU for punched parts can have up to threeaddresses.
