OVC’s Avian and Exotic Medicine Services offers a wide range of services to birds, reptiles and companion exotic animals.

Our team includes a veterinary specialist board-certified through the European College of Zoological Medicine and the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

Small Mammals (referral required): ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, mice, hamsters, gerbils, sugar gliders and pigmy hedgehogs. Birds (no referral required): parrots, cockatoos, lories, birds of prey, waterfowl, racing pigeons, toucans, ratites, passerine birds, backyard poultry and zoological avian species. Reptiles (no referral required): lizards, chelonians, turtles and tortoises, snakes (excluding venomous snakes) and other squamates. Other Animals (no referral required): amphibian, fish, and invertebrates.

• Diagnostics (including complete blood count and biochemistry profile, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, biopsy, bacterial and fungal culture and sensitivity)

• Anesthesia, soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, rabbit and rodent dentistry and general services such as wellness examinations, wound management, husbandry, nutritional and behavior counselling.

• Therapeutics (including Fluid replacement therapy, chemotherapy, radiation)

• On site mobile service for bird collections and aviaries

• 24/7 emergency service provided for all patients, referrals and non-referrals
