OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition – A Scalable Part of the LI Family Features
• All Data and Methods generated by any version of ChemStation rev. B are compatible.
• The UI and workflow of OpenLAB CDS is very familiar and doesn’t change in scaling or adding Data Store or ECM for storage.
Benefit
• Customers have a smooth migration path from single workstation to a Networked System with or without Data Store / ECM.

Multi-Technique Instrument Control
Many Instruments - One Enterprise Software
Page 7
• One user interface • Lab-at-a-glance view of the lab • Identical look & feel – independent of
the hardware • Easy to learn and use • Central administration • Central place to configure data storage
Roles & Privileges
• ChemStation roles and privileges are managed in OpenLAB Control Panel and can be used without OpenLAB ECM or Data Store.
• Support for local and domain user authorization.
• Grouping of instruments into locations.
• Define access security for each location in the tree.
Page 8
Data Organization – What’s in a Result Set?
• The master method is copied at the start of the sequence to create a sequence method.
• Any changes made during data analysis (e.g., during an update of the calibration table) are saved into the sequence method.
• The acquisition method is stored in ACQ.txt.
• The individual Data Analysis Method (DA.M) preserves the last data analysis parameter to re-create the last version of the results for a specific data file.

Usability: Introducing Workflows

Data Analysis View
Recalculation Mode - Flexible • Recalculate peak results in the navigation table with one or several different methods • Shortcut to recalculate all data in the navigation table with a single method • Manually step through navigation table or use auto-stepping to review
Reprocessing Mode - Traceable • Reprocess the sequence with different method(s) to update or modify calibration • Add new or changed methods to result set and reprocess the whole or partial sequence • Store and manage all result and method revisions with sequence/result set

Key Benefit: Preview or print reports without reprocessing and get your reports 10 times faster!
Select report template(s) and data-files and get
immediately answers on complete experiments!

New tree with current sequence methods; quickly add master methods to the result set
Key benefit: Easy way to reprocess and recalibrate complete sequence

Self-Assembled Data Sets and Result Sets
Self-assembled Data Set
• Use “Add” functionality to add data from different sources
• Reprocess/recalculate and report over self-assembled set of data assembled from different folders [not possible in strict 21 CFR part 11 workflow!].
Self-assembled Result Set
• A self-assembled data set can be turned into a self-assembled result set.
• Always available for cross-sample calculations and uploading into Data Store or ECM.
• Supports cross-sequence review in 21 CFR part 11 workflow

• Select the method and destination folder • Launch Create New Result Set… dialog
Sequence Queuing
• The Run Queue now also supports ChemStation sequences. You can directly schedule a single sequence, or process all sequences given in a Queue Plan.
• Select a sequence template to be added to the queue (online only)
Page 16
Run Queue • Single Samples can now
be added to the Run Queue.
• Run Method / Run Sequences are submitted to the queue.
Page 17
Queue Planner
• The Queue Planner allows setting up the relevant sequences and queueable pauses in a queue plan
• Load, create and save queue plans (as *.qpl file)
• Available in online and offline

METHOD HANDLING
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition
Page 19
Method Download
• Upon instrument startup, users are given a choice: • download the ChemStation
method to the instrument • upload the instrument method
to ChemStation • create a new method from
instrument method • A differences viewer highlights
the differences between the ChemStation method and the instrument method.
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition – Acquisition Method Viewer Problem I need to review the Acquisition Method parameters before downloading to the instrument. I do not want to trigger Method Resolution.
Solution Acquisition Method Viewer-provides a way to view the acquisition method parameters.
Page 21
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition – Single Sample Workflow • The Navigation Table now shows the acquisition method as
well as the data analysis method.
• A fly-over indicates the path to the data analysis method.

STORAGE OPTIONS
Storage Option Review
File System
• Simple configuration supports Workstation and Networked Workstation
Data Store
• Compliant workgroup solution: Compliance with GLP/GMP and 21 CFR part 11
• Includes sophisticated search support
ECM
• The Enterprise data repository
• Compliance with GLP/GMP and 21 CFR part 11
• Includes sophisticated search support
Page 24
• Download any result set or single run from Data Store (or ECM) to the local ChemStation file system.
• The downloaded data can be reviewed and reprocessed, since the result set contains all necessary files.
Data that have been uploaded to Data Store (or ECM) have a different icon in the tree view.

Barcode Reading – Chain of Custody
June 19, 2013 30
• Enter sample information including the sample name into the sequence table
• 7693 ALS with 7890B reads barcode
• CDS compares the Barcode field (Actual) to the sample name (Expected) and determines mismatched values
• Logic determines whether to inject or not and prints results on the reports
• True = prints “barcode match” • False = prints “barcode
mismatch” ChemStation Edition
