£100 - 200

• Biography. David Eustace was born in Birmingham. He was encouraged to attend art school but a lack of money prevented this and he trained to become a carpenter. He did subsequently train at Sutton School of Art and then Exeter College of Art, but insists that he is self-taught. Eustace is a painter, muralist and jazzman, latterly part of a quartet called Shufflebones. His paintings reveal a social quirkiness combining odd characters and peculiar moments.

They appeared to be framed in boxes like peas in a pod...therefore the name Podmen arose’. As the series progressed so Podmen began to emerge climbing, falling, ascending, descending, whirling and rotating on external surfaces. ‘Looking Forward’, commissioned by Exeter City Council, was the beginning of Podman’s escape from restricted compartments towards final release.’ From the biography Peter Thursby by Vivienne Light and Simon Olding.
